Favorite Trail:Woodhill
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Handles well, but heavy
Weaknesses:The rear swing arm is very weak
Similar Products Used:anything which breaks without abuse!
Bike Setup:XT running gear with a Sherman front end which was a freebie from the fork importer (not my choice)
Bottom Line:I have been using this bike as a really heavy cross country bike never going over jumps etc. I wanted something which would get me through 3 years without crapping out. BIG MISTAKE! 2 years on and the rear triangle broke. obviously it was out of the warrentable period. Long and short of it is this bike has been a horror to own and cost me a heap of money to keep getting fixed and serviced and everytime something has gone wrong the local agent has come up with some crap story - apparently you can not ride bikes in the rain or wash them with water!. Personally I would not touch GT or their sh.. supplier here in NZ again. That said the bikes one redeaming feature is that it was nice to ride.

Favorite Trail:Woodhill
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:BikeShop
Strengths:Great handling bike with good parts spec, Its caries a bit of weight but if your over 85kgs who's counting
Weaknesses:Don't get the bike wet or the main pivot will crap out, mine lasted less than 10 months and cost $180 to get fixed.
Bike Setup:Nixon fork, XT components
Bottom Line:Even with the crap main pivot weakness (don't let water near this bike)this is a great bike and stacks up well. But be aware that the NZ distributor does not stand behind the product.

Favorite Trail:Tam
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:None
Weaknesses:Single pivot design, brake jacking, cheaply built
Similar Products Used:Norco Shore, xts moto, sgs iron horse, session 77
Bike Setup:Boxxer, etc.
Bottom Line:I rode this bike about three times before I determined it absolutely sucks. Downright dangerous. Non responsive, non trustworthy. Broke the rear shock liknkage on the third ride and then took the parts off and abandoned the bike. Put the parts on my xtx moto. Still have the frame and rear shock if anyone wants to buy it. A close look at the frame shows that it is cheaply built. Your money is better spent on anything with a 4bar or vpp linkage. This bike will disappoint you unless you havn't got a clue. Deserves no chilies. GT should stick to toys are us and walmart.

Similar Products Used:kona stinky specialized enduro

Purchased At:local bike shop
Strengths:good design idrive rides well juicy 7 brakes are awesome best yet ive tried
Weaknesses:so far i have found it mostly too be a reliable ride very nice to ride on faster trails....but the main pivot bearing was getting a bit sloppy so into shop for service only too find that this factory fitted roller bearing had been missing a few rollers and galled the pivot bush.now to add to the last view from n.z. about warrenty i have had no help or resolution from W.H.Worrells our dist. not only did they not cover even part of the replacment costs they also took 2 months too supply the parts Grrrrrr. have contacted GT about their services so well see what happens
Similar Products Used:stinky, bullet, fly, gemini plus various hardtails
Bike Setup:as supplyed just added third chain ring for dh speed and heavyer front spring and xtr comp.
Bottom Line:good alround bike and fun too throw around and jump soaks up fast ruts nicely and very predictable handling. just beware of slack distributor services in your area.happy trails.

Favorite Trail:Pelindong DH
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $1450.00
Purchased At:KSH Bicycles
Strengths:Strong frame. No faults what so ever.
Weaknesses:position chip nuts broken. replaced with custom made bolts and nuts.
Similar Products Used:SC Heckler & Bullit; Stab Primo;Stinky 03,04,05;Giant AC1;DaBomb Mind Bomb and many else
Bike Setup:RS Boxxer Race,Azonic BDW handlebar,Thomson Stem, thomson seatpost, san marco saddle, syncros big box rims, ringle hubs, XT cranks (double ring setup with e13 bashguard), SRAM X7 shifters and deraillieur,Maxis Mobster 2.7 & Swampthing 2.35,Fox Vanilla RC
Bottom Line:THis is absolutely great bike. I enjoy every minute riding this bike. Its handling is precise and the suspension, can match new designs that came up. The suspension is plush and i have no plans to upgrade to DHX shox. The fork upgrade was worthwhile. It doesn't dissapoint me. all other components is doing ok. no comment there. But the bike is really really good. The experience on this bike is non comparable to other bikes on the market. Its fun to ride and very inspiring.

Favorite Trail:Northface (Rotorua)
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $700.00
Purchased At:2nd hand 6months old frame only of girl(doesn't jump)
Strengths:Great handling bike on the ground and in the air.Especially when accompanied with a good front shock.
Weaknesses:welds on rear swing arm around the main pivot point crack.Had my frame welded up by pro was told original welds were not very good.Have 2 other friends with same frames and their frames, after close inspection have cracked aswell.NOT GOOD.GT does not sell rear swing arms seperatly? Got local bike shop to ring GT they did not want to know about it.swing arm needs sealled bearings to be smoother through its travel. Can only use the MRP chain guide that cost a fortune.
Similar Products Used:Schwinn,Kona,Norco.
Bike Setup:Marzocchi 66RC forks, fox vanilla RC rear shock,MRP chain guide,XT components,Mavic 729 rims etc Not much expense spared.
Bottom Line:It's not a matter of if the rear swing arm welds will brake but when.If you don't jump much over 4-5 feet the frame should last alot longer. The bike handles sweetly but my next frame will not be a GT due to the weakness in the rear swing arm and GT's lack of interest in the matter,The 2005 frame is still the same!

Favorite Trail:Big John McNaughton's Vortex to Hell
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $800.00
Purchased At:Ebay
Strengths:Can take mean bombs and resembles a firearm, which - for some - excites the libido. GT's best design with a great stance (low).
Weaknesses:Now that they put the 2.5 inch WTB tires on there, to find fault with the factory set-up would be unreasonable nit-picking.
Similar Products Used:Ellsworth, Iron Horse, Specialized
Bike Setup:Manitou Sherman (Firefly) fork, Fox Vanilla RC rear, Hayes hydro discs, S47 platinum beverage holder - 12 and 22 oz. (oh, calm down)
Bottom Line:The Ruckus rates "The Wildman's choice" by anyone who knows better. It's a tank that handles like a smaller, more nimble, armored vehicle. If you're looking for a 6-8 inch freeride bike for 1000 (used) to 2500 (new) I recommend this one or the Specialized Big Hit, or the Iron Horse SGS. The Iron Horse is a strong, strong monster. So, if you also are strong, you may prefer that one. Most 2000 dollar bikes are built well and perform well (let's say 92% of them) so just play the odds and pick one already. Come on! Let's all have a good time out there.

Favorite Trail:?
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1900.00
Purchased At:local bike shop
Strengths:the bike is very stable when the chip is flipped to the slacker head tube setting. the suspension is plush and its reasonably light weight for what it is supposed to do. the brakes are wonderful once they brake in (no pun intended!)The front end lofts extremely easy and its fun to ride.
Weaknesses:none yet other than its climbing ability but who cares its a freeride bike right
Similar Products Used:Ive ridden so many bikes its hard to recall
Bike Setup:stock w/ 90mm thomson stem
Bottom Line:overall I think that its the only way to go if your a freerider who likes to ride to the top of the hill instead of be shuttled or take a lift.
