Date Reviewed: July 20, 2005
Favorite Trail:Wissahickon
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $350.00
Purchased At:Supergo
Strengths:Light, Stiff, responsive, excellent geometry
Weaknesses:none
Similar Products Used:Cannondale f1000, Cannondale scalpel, Giant xtc
Bike Setup:XTR drivetrain, Fox float rlc fork, Avid Juicy 7 (185mm rotors), Answer pro taper bars, Ct-2 Carbon post, Sella SLR saddle, Spinergy Xycone wheels, IRC trailbear tires, Easton Ea-70 stem, Elite bottle cage
Bottom Line:This is an excellent all around bike. I have had had it since 2002 and have logged endless miles without any complaints. It's an extremely lightweight hard tail with great climbing geometry, which I was able to buy at an unbelievable price. I bought this frame as a blowout when GT bicycles changed owners and stopped producing bikes for a short time. I use the bike for XC racing and used it for the previous 2 years for all my MTB riding. Because of its aluminum frame it's a little harsh, but if you’re concerned with weight and quality it easy to overlook this negative ride characteristic. On the other hand aluminum is very stiff and climbs great. I built the bike with an XTR drive train, Spinergy Cyclone wheels, Avid Juicy 7 disc brakes, Fox Float RLC fork, Answer pro taper bars, Easton CT-2 post, Easton EA-70 stem, Crank Brothers Egg Beater pedals, Elite Ciusi bottle cage, and Sele Italia SLR saddle. Total weight 22.8lbs. This bike blows expensive hard-tail makers like, Lightspeed, Seven Cycles, Giant XTC, etc..., out of the water. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on one of these bad boys used, pick it up and count yourself lucky.

Date Reviewed: January 8, 2003
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $450.00
Purchased At:www.supergo.com
Strengths:Strong, stiff, and extremely light what more could you ask for? How about the fact that it's custom made by Easton.
Weaknesses:Don't care for the integrated headset but it does its job well. (Of course supergo says that it doesn't come with a headset.)
Similar Products Used:This was the first bike that I built myself. My previous bike was a Trek 6500
Bike Setup:Manitou 2002 Black Super 80/100; XTR front and rear; Easton stem, seatpost, and handbar; XT mechanical Disc; Mavic rims; LX shifters (soon to be changed)
Bottom Line:This is the best bike I've ever used. From its light weight to the strenght of the components. After several rides the bike has broken in well and still preforms better than anything I've ridden. If you can afford I would get it soon supergo has dropped the price to $400, a great price for the high quality frame such as this.

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:www.supergo.com
Strengths:this bike is very strong. love the triple triangle.
Weaknesses:what weaknesses?
Similar Products Used:Schwinn moab. I didn't like it, it was to far forward and handles like crap compaired to the Zaskar.
Bike Setup:2002 duke race shocks, xtr rear, LX front, Truvatix Fire-X cranks, LX shifters, specialized body geometry seat, weyless seatpost, tioga rims, tioga, handle bars, avid single digit 3 brake(rear), XT (front brake), single digit 5 levers.
Bottom Line:I built this bike from all of these pieces that i had bought off supergo.com. it would be too expencive to buy the real zaskar team so i bought the frame and stuff. The bottom line is this bike kicks ass over all the other competition hardtails on the market. this thing can climb like nothin' and can handle like a dream. I have wasted guys on full suspensions before on this bike. if you have the chance to buy one DO IT!!!!!!!!!
weight to specific specifications = 22.3 pounds

Favorite Trail:Noble Canyon
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $450.00
Purchased At:Supergo
Strengths:Body geometry (this says it all), Colors (yellow & blue), strength.....
Weaknesses:none..maybe the Cane Creek integrated headset, but after our LBS here got a hold of it and told me what's wrong, no problems after that.
Similar Products Used:Raleigh 800
Bike Setup:XTR components, Bomber Zfly suspension, CT2 carbon handlebars, Salle Italia Trans Am saddles, Post MOderne seatpost, Salsa MotoAce stem, RPM Lite wheelset, Panaracer (1.80) tires.
Bottom Line:Built this bike from the ground up with some of the best components (except for the seatpost). Climbs like a scared monkey - absolutely fabulous. Has the best steering of any bike that I have ridden. Probably the best cross country bike there is today (too bad GT has lost the business). Ride one and you will be surprise how light and nimble it is, especially climbing uphill. This bike deserves 5 flaming fires not only for the performance but for the dollar value itself.

Bottom Line:GT ZASKAR TEAM 2001 is the greatest bike ever at least i think it is , it's verry light and real stiff like a real good hardtail should be. It can take a hell lots beating and still don't break trust me on this one. It's a little bit to expencive for all regular riders but i think it is the best XC machine ever!!!

Favorite Trail:Stillwell Long Island
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $449.00
Purchased At:Supergo
Strengths:Light weight and stiff. Great paint job!
Weaknesses:Integrated headset.......I would rather use a Chris King
Similar Products Used:GT Zaskar '96
Bike Setup:Full XTR, Marzocchi Atom Race w/ X-Heavy Springs, Mavic X517 ceramic wheelset w/ XTR hubs, Fire XC Pro 2.1 front 1.8. rear,
Bottom Line:This baby was built from the ground up with love! Got the frame for a bargain basement price and used the money I saved on some high end parts. It rides like a dream. Tracks well on the rough trails and climbs with ease on the hills. This will probably be the last year that GT makes a high end hardtail since they've gone bankrupt. If you want the best hardtail available on the market, don't hestitate to buy this bike!!!
