The rear cassette gummed up in -2°C and slacked my chain. Pinched my rear tire once, but I'd lessened the pressure up too much, so I'd just suggest caution if you ride under-pressured. | | Similar Products Used: | '99 GT Tempest, '01 Schwinn Moab | | Bike Setup: | Stock, except I replaced the pedals with a local company's Down-Hill type. Do this, trust me you'll get a much better ride! | | Bottom Line: | Hard to beat that price! Got mine in Mar. '01 for $600 Canadian (Originally $1050 Can.), rode it to work everyday, raced it in June, went through the local trails, without doing more than minor routine maintence to it. I didn't even get around to bringing it in for it's 1st month tune-up. Some of the other bikes I tried before buying this one were smother, lighter, quieter... for twice the price! And they would have needed more tune-ups than I've got time for. This bike's solid, reliable, easy too maintain, and is the first 'cycle I've rode that likes our winter! $450.00 | | Purchased At: | Mail order | | Strengths: | What ever you hear about the spec is not correct - Mine is different - jett xc - deore / alivio - low flat geometry gt components etc. This bike is very flat and quite low making it highly responsive and manoevarable | | Weaknesses: | No replaceable rear mech hanger - i run a rear mech guard after i trashed the hanger - (the mech pointed upwards-lol) | | Similar Products Used: | Schwinn moab 1, Marin bobcat +nail trail, trek 800 sport etc. | | Bike Setup: | Jett xc minimum preload -18inch frame - low saddle height so i can use it for jumps and stuff. | | Bottom Line: | With the saddle down low- this suprisingly makes a very stable ride which can be used for even jumps.
The Jett xcs dont take much out of the power - but the 3 inch travel offers impact reduction on the arms.
DONT GO ON THE SPEC ON THE WEBSITE. very good bike - if you can still get 1- they don't make them any more and 2000 models are goin for around $400 - I would reccommend the timberline model i got to teenage riders who need something to do everything - I wouldn't reccommend this to slow old men who wont get the maximum out of the ride. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

No problem, replaced them with Mavic 517s, haven't had a problem since. Adjustable stem a great feature! Buy it. Fifteen billion chilis minus three for the two tacoed wheels = 14,999,999,993 chilis!
