Bottom Line:
I bought this titanium bike for $180.00 with all XTR and XT components and a SID Sl. IT has a titanium seatpost with seat that has titanium rails. It was sitting outside of a pawn shop all dirty and muddy! $180.00 for a titanium bike spec'd with XTR and XT....that is the bottom line!!!! Plus it rides kick ass!!!!

I have ridden this bike for at least 8 years. I have gone through 2 bikes and maybe I will get another one. It has a great feel on the down hill. It absorbs the bumps and on the climbs it is rigid where you want it. Great handling bike, and very responsive for a 6'2 168 pound guy.
Weaknesses:
This is the part that scares me. I have broke it twice. I road one for 6 years( a 94 model ) and road a 1999 for 2 years. The bike broke in the exact same spot. Both only had 80mm shocks nothing to long, but ridden very aggressively. Both bikes broke on the top tup where it connect on the steer tube. It starts from the bottum and works it way around. I was very lucky.. both times to catch. I might be stupid but I might be buying another one and just use it for racing. Great feel but scary..

Bottom Line:
I love the frame, unfortunately it is not as strong as advertized. I think the Zaskar had extra welds because of the three triangle design put stress in the steertube area and it is aluminum, maybe they should have done the same on the xizang.
Oh yeah, the guy with negative comments was an idiot, the bike components have nothing to do with the frame.

is really light and strong. it made me won more than six podiums last year. climbs like a goat. hey guys, is a gt!!!!!

the wheels. here in my country if you broke any part of your x-max wheelset, you must wait around 4 months for a new part. the headset is like a fly in your caviar!!(tioga)
I´m a gt fan. this bike rules and the price is not a problem if you want to win every race you ride, even weekend races. they stops its production, but if you own a xizang ti think you have now a jewel beetwen your legs. take care of it.

The GT Xiang is like any other ti hardtails. It hauls on single track, climbs like mad, and desends quite nicely. Also, it comes nicely equipped.
Weaknesses:
none so far, but gt has stopped making them. Thats why they are a rare breed.

i got lucky on my buy and it was well worth the hefty price tag a paid. the frame is built with time and effort and the welds are unique to most gts. this bike is stricly crosscountry. it weighs 20 lbs and is really made for racing. buy(if you can find it) if you ride often and have the extra money. its not the greatest value reatil 3700, but is well worth the money

Bottom Line:
This bike very light and responsive. I ride a 20" and it is no more flexy than my Cad3 but less harsh (GT did well with getting that dialed in). It climbs like a goat. The XTR is ultra nice and the SID works well with this frame once setup right. If you want a cross-country racer that will win you medals, along with loads of admirers at the start line, get a Xizang. It's sweet!

Great ride, light, responsive, non-punishing, great build quality, nice geometry, nice, nice, nice!
Weaknesses:
Feels longer in the top tube length, necessitating a shorter stem than I normally use. High polish on frame caused slight slipping of front derailleur.

Bottom Line:
This is a great frame (it's a frame dolt, NOT the components hung on it!), with a great ride. The GT crew was really dialed when they made this one. My Xizang feels like it fits and is as comfortable as my dearly departed, yet recently revived Ellison custom. Though it seems longer in the top tube than my other bikes, I put a shorter stem on it and got a great fit, but it still doesn't have that twitchy feel that a short stem normally gives. I have an earlier frame (the first year they switched to rear cantis over U-brakes), and this frame keeps going and going... The welds are excellent, and the only fault I could find with the frame finish is the high polish caused some slippage of the front derailleur until I spot bead-blasted it where the clamp band would go. Problem solved. If this bike was ever, God forbid, stolen or broke, I would go out and buy another in a heartbeat. It's a classy bike that exudes soul, and I'd have to have another.

THIS BIKE SUCKS, I TOOK IT DOWN MY FAVOURITE TRAILS AND IT FELL APART. THE BRAKES HAD NO POWER, THE RIMS BENT OVER THE SMALLEST BUMP, I BROKE 10 SPOKES, THE GEARSHIFTER JAMMED AND I HAD TO WALK HOME.
