Favorite Trail:Streets
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Peddlers in Washington, IN
Strengths:Can't break it. Most responsive frame ever built by GT. If you can find one, it's worth 200...
Weaknesses:Came factory with crap components, if you are buying this frame in 2006, hapefully it's stripped down and/or new OS...you CAN find them in the USA for around 100, but the 150 via singapore still ain't bad...build it into ANYTHING!!! I have tried and failed to brake this thing, and I've busted an Elsworth, Specialized HR Pro Demo and KHS Allite 2000...
Similar Products Used:Elsworth, Specialized HR, KHS, Giant Brute...
Bike Setup:Frame, Brakes, bALLS...
Bottom Line:If you can find one of these frames, just buy it, you'll thank yourself later. Your girlfriend will hate you...

Favorite Trail:Shorthills Conservation Area
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $650.00
Purchased At:Steves Bikes
Strengths:Strong frame, really strong welds, good rims have had same rims for 3 years, alright dereiler
Weaknesses:most of the components are noname crappy parts, seatpost is way too short, forks don't have alot of travel, rebound is not good
Similar Products Used:Trek fuel 80
Bike Setup:Rock Shox sid 100, easton CT2 handle bars, Tranz X compenents seatpost.
Bottom Line:Its a good beginner bike, you can ride it rough and it still holds up pretty well, have had it for 3 years and most compenents and still working, i would suggest replace the forks and the handle bars because the stock bars are really heavy.

Favorite Trail:Urban Assault
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:Dutch Cycle
Strengths:Extremely strong frame. Nice big welds.
Weaknesses:For the price nothing major
Bike Setup:Z5 bomber, North Shore dh cranks, Race Face rings bash guard, Mavic D521 Rims, Ninja DH 2.35 rear tire, Mobster 2.5 front.
Bottom Line:This is a fantastic frame. I've put it into the side of walls and trees, dropped 6ft ledges to flat with it. Crashed it into other cyclists. This is a super strong frame. It can take a lot of abuse, and is always willing to take more. This has been a great urban assault bike.

Favorite Trail:mud trail something you can get you bike stuck in
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $700.00
Strengths:I find the best thing is that it will take a good beatin.I have done everything with it and it has not failed on me yet.
Weaknesses:my shocks dont work that good i had to have them looked at the first week i had it. grips come off all the time i dont think they should do that.
Similar Products Used:nothing
Bike Setup:rockshoc xl,triple triangle frame,
Bottom Line:I beat the bike quite bad i ride through what ever i can find. I bike about 7 hours a week not alot but i treat it to a lube only one time a week after it goes throught the mud and all that. The only thing i havent got around about the bike is that i find it is not that good at the big jumps it falls off me but maybe that is just me. over all i think this is a good bike for some one who is just getting into it like me. i like it and i think GT did a good job for what i paided for it.

Favorite Trail:Everything
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $600.00
Purchased At:Endless Trails
Strengths:Frame is stiff, Very upgradable, Love the candy Blue color,
Get lots of compliments, With the proper components this Frame will go along way
Weaknesses:None that I have found
Similar Products Used:other non alu. GTs, Trek
Bike Setup:Manitou FS-TI forks, LX components, other stuff makes it comfortable for me
Bottom Line:I weight about 205 have dropped about 2ft with this bike and have pretty much abused it and it keeps going with no problems. If all of GT's alum. frames are like this one, you can not go wrong. If you do not like a stiff ride in a frame do not buy it, but if a stiff frame is what your lookig for, you will love it

Submitted by David a Weekend Warrior from Vancouver, British Columbia
Date Reviewed: October 27, 1999
Favorite Trail:
Delta Watershed
Duration Product Used:
2 Years
Strengths:
the frame is a good one. It holds up well. With only better components, it would be like the Zaskar, or something elso. The shocks are also ok. They are not the best, but it has seemed that they last through a lot.
Weaknesses:
components. They simply suck.
Similar Products Used:
GT Timberline
Bike Setup:
Rock Shox Indy S, riser bars, Roach pads, clipless pedals, and other than that, the basic setup.
Bottom Line:It is sturdy. There might be better bikes, but it is pretty good for the price, and if you don't race, and just do biking at your leisure, it is great.
