| | Weaknesses: | The shock linkage is the worst design ever. No wonder GT went bankrupt. With crap like this on the market it is a wonder anyone is still buying Mountain Bikes. In an attempt to save weight they made the linkage so weak that it cracks around the shock bolts. If you buy one these bike inspect it very closely. You cannot get a replacement. I have three cracked ones and finally I got the local college welding instructor to weld some braces on around the cracks and that has helped. $275.00 | | Purchased At: | eBay.com | | Strengths: | Plush suspension, quick (no squeeking) linkage like older GT models (pivots have bearings in newer models), comfortable ride, frame's geometry allows for easy adaptation (if necessary!) to different sized riders. | | Weaknesses: | Decal's baby blue color is ugly to me. | | Similar Products Used: | Proflex, GT RTS, 98 GT LTS1, GT XCR1000 | | Bike Setup: | Spinergy's, Rock Shox Sid XC, Chris King, Race Face LP's, XTR, Kore Elite, WTB seat, etc. The price above was just for the frame - still a steal! Thus, this was not a stock bike, but all custom built, etc. | | Bottom Line: | Great cross country bike. Not the lightest ride, but still a solid 25 pound bike. This is a drastic improvement to their previous years' models. I HATED the creaking in the LTS and STS models. The pivots had a plastic bushing that squeeked like crazey! It was like scratching a chalkboard all day. The frame I ride is a Large, although I usually would ride a Medium. The LTS-1000DS' frame size of Large is a bit smaller than GT's XCR Large frame size. With a shorter/higher degree stem, I have no problem riding the Large. I don't care for the baby blue color decals (frame is polished), so I purchased a set of yellow/black/red decals. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

There isnt much wrong with this bike, except for the fairly high weight, but that's not too big of a problem if you're the kind to do more downhill than XC. However, it's fun to ride no matter what you like the best.
