$450.00 | | Purchased At: | Importadora Caupolican | | Strengths: | It´s a great bike because of it's price, and it comes with the rock shox deluxe shock It´s very stiff and for a Cro-Mo bike, it´s very light | | Weaknesses: | The chain when you jump it hits the bottom frame and the chain gets messed up | | Similar Products Used: | y-11 | | Bike Setup: | Indy S, amoeba handlebar for downhill, mj T, rock shox deluxe, Alivio/acera components mix | | Bottom Line: | It´s a very good bike for all of the average or entry level bikers, who are not pros, but like the best for a great price | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from San Diego Date Reviewed: January 3, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Big Bear Area | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | Great suspension design, inexpensive | | Weaknesses: | for the price, none. components suck except the Avid 20 single digits, it weighs 30.5 lbs, Front shock flex makes me shake in my boots. (Rock Shox Indy C) | | Similar Products Used: | GT XCR, Specialized FSR, Specialized Stumpjumper FS, Trek Y-22(junk) and 7000, Schwinn S-10, Gary Fisher Sugar | | Bike Setup: | Rock Shox Indy C, Suntour crank and STX Rear D. Zac 19 rims. | | Bottom Line: | For the money, buy this bike if you are not concerned about weight and ARE NOT SEROIUS ABOUT RACING or DO NOT RIDE HARD. Mainly, the componenets will not hold up. More expensive bikes costing $400-600+ more weigh about 3-6 pounds less with better componenetry. I have experienced very little creak in this bikes rear suspension. The bike is heavy (Cromoly) but absolutely fun to ride on all terrain and a great workout. I do not trust the fork though. It's the weakest thing on the bike. Months of riding and one 12 hour endurance race later the rims took the shape of eggs and the 21 speed drivetrain and crank were making an inefficient coversion of my pedal power. I have replaced the entire drivetrain with Shimano XT Mega 9 Drivetrain , XT hubs on Mavic 521 rims, Avid Archrival 50, Bontrager Crowbar. Bike now weighs 28.75 lbs and much stronger. Of course it's now $600 later. But, comparing the entire cost of the bike, I still have better components than a bike costing $1,300.00 For me, I like the way the bike fit me and this should always be your guiding light. Afterall, you'll be on it as you cross this roughed land called earth. Have fun. 1 star for cost, 1 star for design, 1 star for performance, 1 star for durability of bike overall, and 0 stars for componentry. GT seems to always go cheap on bike componenty unless the bike sells for $2,200. This may be the first and last GT I buy | Overall Rating: |
