Similar Products Used:Mongoose pro, Redline, Haro

Bottom Line:GT has always been a favorite of mine,at least the USA models! This frame is still one of the lightest, fastest,
best looking BMX race frames out there!I would recomend it to anyone! To bad GT had to sell-out to Pacific! If anyone out there wants to sell there GT Ultrabox or "Brody" tires? Just let me know!

Submitted by Rich a Racer from Norman, OK, USA
Date Reviewed: June 15, 2000
Favorite Trail:Sooner Pearl BMX, Okc, OK
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:great looks, extremely rigid rear tri-angle. fairly well equipped. This bike is extremely fast! nice wheelset also. Actually this bike is really trick. I just have a couple of complaints about the bike.
Weaknesses:My Canecreek Tank headset kept comming loose. The rims are pretty wide causing the cheaply built diacomp 767 arms to hit my heels. The 767 brake is really cheaply built. It is a direct push brake that rattles so bad it belongs on a Murry!
After I spending $1085.00, I would think I shouldn't have to change any parts out. Even a shimano XT brake in the rear would have been great. The Pedals didn't work well either. Stickers were pealing off but they got warrenteed.
Similar Products Used:1999 GT pro series
Bike Setup:Stock except for Chris King headset, Avid 2.0 brake, ACS 14t claw, and speedplay frog pedals
Bottom Line:I like my bike The way it is set up now. The wheelset with double butted wheelman spokes/alloy nipples, and seald cartridge bearings rock! I just wish they would use an Avid brake because they are narrower, and some kind of sealed bearing headset(cancreek c2,chris king,FSA, etc.). Don't get me wrong this is still a BAD ASS bike right out of the box. Magazines have reviewed this bike and only complained about the pedals so I guess I am just a little more picky after actually spending my own money. I am giving 4 chilis for value because GT could have at least had a nicer brake installed. I am giving 5 chilis for overall because this bike is still one of the nicest team issue bikes available.
