$750.00 | | Purchased At: | Mason's | | Strengths: | Light frame, stiff rear end, great quality components for a complete bike, fairly light and stiff chrmoly forks. | | Weaknesses: | Aluminum cranks (REALLY BAD), short front end for someone with a long torso. | | Similar Products Used: | Powerlite P24, Huffy Primus, Redline Proline 24 | | Bike Setup: | Complete stock except for profile cranks, titanium BB spindle, and BB; Shimano 545 clipless | | Bottom Line: | This is a great frame for those of you who would like to get a race-worthy bike without the cost of custom building. Short front end makes Pre-manual and manual a little tricky, but carves the turns well. Recommended for riders 5'6" to 5'10". Get rid of the aluminum cranks IMMEDIATELY and step up to a good tubular chromoly like profile, AC, or GT make. If you want to go fast, jump smooth, and rocket out of the gate, all on a budget, buy this bike! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from stafford va usa Date Reviewed: June 1, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Douthat State park | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | frame, fork, handlebars, stem, wheels | | Weaknesses: | cranks&bottom bracket are not made by GT, they say GT but are actually FSA. Bottom bracket creaks & cranks would not stay tight. Replaced w/4130 GT CRANKS NO MORE PROBLEMS! | | Bottom Line: | GT SPEED SERIES 24 IS A DREAM TO RIDE/RACE. THE CRANKS REALLY SUCK BUT THAT PROBLEM WAS EASILY SOLVED BY REPLACING THEM WITH GT 4130 CRANKS & SEALED BOTTOM BRACKET. WHY WOULD GT USE CHEAP CRANKS ON THERE HIGH END RACE CRUISER? | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
