from Upstate NY Date Reviewed: March 12, 2001 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Purchased At: | Bike Brothers,Kingston,NY(good little shop) | | Strengths: | -Splined 3-piece crank -Chromoly EVERYTHING(frame, bars, crank) -All for $320 | | Weaknesses: | -A little too heavy to race with -Some small details(grips, brake, pedals, etc.) -Brody knobs roll real fast, but suck in muddy, slick terrain. You might want knobbier tires -A little long | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized Vegas TRX(heavier, designed as a dirt jumper) | | Bike Setup: | Stock(2001 model,blue/yellow Team paint job) | | Bottom Line: | Truth is,this is my little brother's bike.I have put a few rides on it,and so far it's great.$320 can buy a lot in the BMX world, and the Mach One is no exception.3-piece cranks,four-piece handlebar,100% cro-mo frame...wow.
No,it isn't perfect and there are nicer bikes for true BMX racing, but for fooling around on trails,i.e mild dirt jumping,it's perfect.Let's see how it holds up.For now,I give it 4 chilies overall,5 CHILIES VALUE!

from Yamhill,OR,USA Date Reviewed: July 20, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | My backyard | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | No GT part on the bike has broken. The dia-tech brakes and lever work exellent. The bike came with a tubular chromoly 3-pc crank. The geometry is a great for a smaller rider like me. | | Weaknesses: | The dyno dual-ply grips started out good, but after about 4 weeks of riding they were pretty much ruined. The pedals had bad traction. The bike is pretty heavy for a race bike (25 lbs.) | | Similar Products Used: | 1999 GT speed series team w/SPIN wheels and many extras, Diamondback Jr., powerlite spitfire, 2000 GT pro series XL and 24. | | Bike Setup: | I replaced the grips with Redline Freaky-G grips,($9.99)the pedals with Shimano PDMX30 DX pedal($69.99) THE PEDALS AND GRIPS ARE KNOW EXTRA EXCELLENT!!!! | | Bottom Line: | GREAT BIKE FOR THE MONEY! WHen I boght it I was looking for geometry not price, and when I found out the bike was only $320 I was suprized. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
