Submitted by Seth a Downhiller from Marietta, GA, USA
Date Reviewed: December 2, 2003
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:The Sports Authority
Strengths:its been a while since i rode it, it had some cool barbwire graphics, and it saved my life
Weaknesses:dorky, but its a budget helmet, also doesnt have the best vents, well, they suck
Similar Products Used:giro torrent, eclipse
Bike Setup:was a mongoose 40lb 2 inch travel bike at the time
Bottom Line:back when i was a newbie and riding xc on a 40 pound piece i was slammin this downhill at about 25 and got airborne on some freakin water washout spot while still pointed downhill, lost my bike to my left and landed on my right, the right side of my head that is, and my shoulder. it was nasty, sprained my shoulder, flipped over, and smacked the ground again. i got a badass concussion, couldnt remember anything, and cracked the helmet down the right side just 2 inches from the middle. i had landed on a rock, if i didnt have this thing on i would be dead no doubt, nice dent where the rock hit, nice protection where my head wouldve hit. im so glad i had this thing, its not the greatest, but if u need something cheap and ur not racing go for this!

Favorite Trail:The Widowmaker
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Silent Sports
Strengths:Easy to adjust. Lots of vents. No stupid visor that falls off (bell..)Colour matches my bike/packs. Comfortable and doesn't fall forward/back once adjusted properly.
Weaknesses:The plastic things that supports the helmet on your head needs to be adjusted every time you put it on because it comes loose.
Similar Products Used:Bell something...
Bike Setup:'97 Norco Sasquatch, Avid 210mm Front Disc, XTR Vee rear, Sun Rims, 20T chainring, XTR shifters/levers, Bomber Z5
Bottom Line:Great helmet for the $$$. Straight forward adjustments, but they also come undone easily. Good mid range helmet.

Submitted by Sledge Foot a Cross Country Rider from So Cal
Date Reviewed: April 19, 2002
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $35.00
Strengths:Cheap Price...35 smackers.
Weaknesses:Being a general consumer type helmet, it seems to be made for a wider range of headsizes so the helmet tends to bob around more than others in their equivilent sizes. This was my first helmet
Similar Products Used:Not exactly similar, but other helmets I know wear: Briko Twinner for road and Giro Switchblade for mountain.
Bottom Line:A no frills basic consumer helmet. I bought this when I was starting out and had no $$$. I used it for road and mountain riding. I would pass on it and for one of the Specialized ones in this price range.
The helmet doesn't fit well and tends to bob. And yes I did get the proper size.
