Favorite Trail:Ravenshoe all the way
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $63.00
Purchased At:A store for $63 Canadian
Strengths:Looks pretty cool, comfortable. good entry level all mountain helmet. Strong body also.
Weaknesses:Shell is taped on to body of helmet, and gets pretty hotafter a while of riding.
Similar Products Used:None really
Bike Setup:Norco sidewinder with axiom pedals, Race Face grips, 2.35 front tire, and Kool Stop brake pads.
Bottom Line:good helmet, but kind of expensive. If you're looking for a basic all mountain helmet, I would probably recommend this. Goota give it 3 flamin' chilis because of the price.

Favorite Trail:Vallée Pruneau
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Sports Experts
Strengths:- Very lightweight
- Decent ventilation for its class
- Accu-Lock system give it a very good fit
Weaknesses:- The plastic shell is taped on to the body
- Too expensive
Similar Products Used:- Giro Switchblade
- Bell (alot of them)
Bike Setup:2003 Kona Stuff mostly stock
Bottom Line:Good helmet with a very decent feel. The Accu-Lock system is something that Giro came up with that locks around your head to securely hold the helmet on your head (where it's supposed to be!). The tape used to secure the plastic shell on the body is fragile and mine has started to rip. Finally, the price is abit too high for such a product where you can find similar helmets for 10$ less in my opinion.

Strengths:-Fit
-Adjustability
-Cooling Vents
Weaknesses:-None
Bike Setup:Cannondale Super V 500
Bottom Line:Great Helmet for the price. Fits my head great and adjustments are very easy. Have biked on some really warm days and the cooling vents really have done their job. Also the helmet is quite strong in that I had a good fall in which my helmet hit pretty hard but the plastic didn't crack.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $5.00
Purchased At:lbs
Strengths:Comfort,Adjustments,looks cool.
Weaknesses:Price if I have to buy a new one after a crash.$45 seems like a rip off for what amounts to a redesigned beer cooler sold as a helmet.
Similar Products Used:No such thing as a peddle bike helmet last time I had a bike.Have tried on many
Bike Setup:Fuel 80
Bottom Line:All these years I`ve seen kids have to start wearing helmets on peddle bikes as a result of more "nanny laws".I felt very sorry for them. But,they have come a long way from the goofy looking early models. So light and comfortable you forget you have it on...Only 2 turds on value due to price gouging...$10-20 would still give more than 1000% profit margin on this item...

Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:Frankford Bicycles (on net)
Strengths:Worth every penny, fits nicely, made sturdy.
Weaknesses:none that I can see
Similar Products Used:Bell (forget name of the helmet)
Bike Setup:2003 Giant - Iguana Disc
Bottom Line:I bought this helmet and went on a ride today for the 1st time. The ride was a 22 mile ride in the 90+ degree Florida sun on a paved trail. It fit's great has a nice ratchet type system in the back of the helmet.

The airflow through the helmet is great too! It seems to be a nice sturdy well built helmet at a great price.

I wish I would have bought one of these a long time ago! I have been telling my fellow rides if they haven't bought one yet, they do not know what they are missing!

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:Granite City Schwinn
Strengths:Nice fit, good warranty
Weaknesses:cheap materials
Bottom Line:I had a bad experience unfortunately, so I will temper all the great reviews a little bit. It would appear that the plastic they're using for the Rock Lock straps on these helmets is very cheap and shoddy. The very first time I put mine on it broke. Just like that.
But the warranty is good, I brought it back to the shop I bought it from and they handed me a replacement that seems to be better made than the first one. We'll see how it holds up.

Weaknesses:None.
Similar Products Used:Bell Something or other... doesnt compare
Bike Setup:Iron Horse Desperado
Bottom Line:Great value, especially with a friends employee discount. You couldn't ask for a better fit in a helmet, fits like a good baseball cap. I took a pretty good hit to the head, and the helmet did its job perfectly, letting me get to the bottom without a giant bump on my temple. I whole-heartedly recommend, my favorite piece of my riding gear.

Strengths:This helmet is a great price, fits great, looks okay and is easy to adjust. It is fairly light.
Weaknesses:The tape cracked at the back. This is easily fixed by peeling off all of the tape and carefully replacing it with electrical tape. This looks just as good and takes only about 5-10 minutes.
Similar Products Used:Some sort of axiom and some other cheap crap.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $40.00
Purchased At:Cap's Abbotsford
Strengths:good looks, great ventilation, light and comfortable, easy to adjust, good value for the money
Weaknesses:without adjusting the chinstrap to where it's uncomfortably tight, I find that the helmet tends to blow off at high speed (even after the staff adjusted it for me.
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:2002 Trek 4500
Bottom Line:I do not dislike this helmet, it has a lot of good stuff going for it. If I was in the market for another helmet I would seriously consider another Torrent. If it were not for it's annoying habit of coming off at speed (remember this is probably over 35 m.p.h.) and acting like a parachute that is attached to my neck, I would give it an overall rating of 5 chilis. However, when I am going fast downhill the last thing I want to think about is pressure on my throat.

Bike Setup:2001 Norco Bigfoot
Bottom Line:Great Helmet for the price. It's comfortable and it fits great to any head. The only problem I noticed was just a looks problem and that was that it looked a little bulky. If you're really into biking and are at risk of hitting your head, buy this helmet or any other Giro/Bell Helmet. If you barely ride or just ride on roads and easy trails, get a No-Name brand or something.

Similar Products Used:First bike helmet.
Bike Setup:2001 Giant Rainier SE
Bottom Line:This helmet fits well and keeps my head cool. The brow pad does a good job of absorbing/retaining sweat. Sweat does not drip into my eyes. I have used the visor to deflect branches up and over my head, and no scratches are evident. I left it on top of a pickup. It fell off when we pulled away, and it still looks new. I have not needed to add extra pads to the inside, since the helmet is already comfortable and the foam does not contact my head. I guess it could cool even better with more holes, but that means higher cost.

Aesthetically Pleasing
Roc Loc 3 works well

Similar Products Used:Old Protec something-or-other
Bike Setup:Stock 2000 K2 Zed X
Bottom Line:Well, the only other bike helmet that I've really used that I can compare my new new Giro is the blue-and-white Protec I won a few years back at a Cub Scouts raffle. The Torrent has worked fine during the very mild use I've put it through (though I haven't crashed it yet). If you are a biker who needs a new helmet, just wants to have fun, and doesn't care if your helmet is top-o-the-heap (as long as it provides protection), go out and get the Torrent.

Purchased At:Agee's
Strengths:price, color, fit
Weaknesses:hot, bulky, padding gets too wet too fast.
Similar Products Used:Bell Pump-kin head lookin' thing
Bike Setup:Klein Att. comp stock
Bottom Line:I got this helmet cause I needed something to get me to and from class. I was great for that. However, the more I rode the more the flaws became aparent. If you just go out on weekends for short rides, just ride to work or class, or need a cheap helmet fast, this is the way to go. Remember, higher price does not mean safer. However, If you hammer it after work for two or three hours five times a week in the southern heat, I suggest an up-grade.

I should say this as well, Agee's is the worst bike shop, the service sucks. I don't even think the people who work there ride.

Oh yeah, Good helmet for the price.

Similar Products Used:Giro Torrero
Bike Setup:Giant Iguana
Bottom Line:I got this helmet after losing my Giro Torrero and what an improvement! This helmet is much lighter, fits way better, and stays much cooler than the Torrero which sells for the same price. I think this helmet replaces the Torrero and it's a definite upgrade. The new Acu Loc system is actually an on-head adjustable band that goes all the way around you head, not just in back like the older designs. It's so comfortable I sometimes forget to take it off, and it looks good too. For the money, it's great.
