Duration Product Used:

Price Paid:

Purchased At:
LBS
Strengths:
Strong, light frame, great geometry, good value for money
Weaknesses:
paper thin chainrings, cranks, rear hub, front fork.
Bike Setup:
stock, maxxis Holy Roller tires
Bottom Line:
Great bike for the money, and I have it pretty much stock except for the Maxxis Holy Roller 2.4" tires front & rear. Out back the 2.4 is too wide and I need to go back to a 2.2 as the front derr rubs on the tire when trying to get into the small chainring. I use this bike for light trials riding but mostly urban streetriding. It's done everything I've asked of it, but I would recommend a better front fork, and definitely new crankset & chainrings. If I rode it as hard as I used to ride when I was younger I would have destroyed the cranks by now. Great entry level urban street bike for the budget-minded. The frame is a great base and the rest can be easily upgraded down the road.

Bottom Line:
this is a good beginner as i said. i was a little low on money at that time and i needed a bike. if i had one more month i would've got the stp2. this is good for moderate jumping. DO NOT JUMP BIG!!!!! i blew the stock rear tire(it was at 55 psi (reg)) and my cranks are so bent i had to remove the front derailler. it has awesome brakes!! stoppies are so easy you wouldnt believe. my brakes haven't faded yet. im getting discs because my rims always go out of true so im getting a good wheelset. bottem line if you know you wont makeit dont do it with this bike. if you have any questions email me at antman3249@yahoo.com

Strengths:
Versatile, durable, and has a clean look.
Weaknesses:
None so far.
Bike Setup:
Stock so far, but plan on upgrading. Already installed Race Face Good 'n Evil grips. Plan on adding front disc brake, new fork, new saddle, x-change tires for freeride tires, new pedals, and headset.
Bottom Line:
I bought this bike for use around campus. As the name suggests, it's made for sreet/trail/park. It serves its purpose for the streets and parks, but not for trails...well not for trails around here. Trails or streets that have jagged gravel will cut into the tires, however, I haven't had a flat, yet. As mentioned in the "bike setup" I plan on upgrading some parts on the bike. All in all, it's not a bad bike. It's great for a starter bike.

Bike One (formerly Budget Bicycles of OKC)
Strengths:
*Frame Integrity *Geometry/comfort *Weight *Manouverability (she's as agile on single trak as she is on the quarter pipe at the park. Handling inspires confidence. *Brakes *Versatility *Looks/Styling *Good quality for price *Tires (K rads) *FAST!!! *
Weaknesses:
* Cranks creak, need tightening a lot. I had the drive side crank bolt strip out completely (LBS replaced it for free with no hassles :) Fragile chainrings. * cheep cheep @$$ paper thin stock inner tubes. I bought better ones at Target for Gods sake * Front Der. a pain in the butt to set up/adjust w/o chain rub. Shifts poorly (rear der. works great though. both are alivio) * stock seat sux except as a place to rest your butt while waiting for your turn in the bowls at the skate park. *Fork could be better, BUT given the price of the bike it's actually pretty decent, and better than the competitors in the sub $500 category. *Can't put pegs on it with stock hubs/wheels, but thats a plus if your on the trail, cause it's got QR hubs (can't have everything)
Similar Products Used:
*My battle-scarred Cromoly '01 Haro Mirra 540 air BMX. *Cromoly rigid 1991 My Trek 820 antelope (my old Hucking bike and singletrack bike) *Various low end Alum and Steel Trek hardtails (looked at) My alum Hybrid Trek 7100 Rigid, that I use as a commuter and recreational/street bike *Gary Fisher Opie (almost bought)
Bike Setup:
Park : Stock + Frame mounted J bolt security lock, pretty neon green Tireflies and sick bullethole decals.
Street or Trail: All the above, plus Trek alloy suspension seatpost, Bontrager FS2000 saddle, Seatpost mounted rear rack (El cheepo brand) Cateye LED headlight and tail-lights and a GT bike computer/speedo
Bottom Line:
I love this bike! If it were legal, I would marry it. (who knows, this is Oklahoma, it may be legal here.) I have 5 other bikes, and I hardly ever ride them anymore except for the Haro BMX. A truly multipurpose bike when fitted with a better seat and a rear rack. I use it to commute to work or run errands on nice days. Very comfortable bike. nice geometry. Kenda K rads stick like glue and roll fast on cement and asphalt. Very fast street and commuter bike. I sometimes pass cars in 25 mph zones with this thing. At the Park....Agile quick and light in the quarter pipe. Jumps predictably and easily.actually easier to do tricks on than a bmx, but lacks mounts for pegs (QR hub is stock) light enough to toss around, but handles abuse well. Feels like a lighter cruiser size version of my Haro, thats less tiring to ride and easier on the bones. On the trail it's just as nimble. Climbs easily, and has good gear range. stock tires clog with muddy clay and dont shed it well. Off road it's comparable to a similarly equipped conventional design hardtail, maybe even a little easier to toss about due to its low standover and shorter rear end. Overall... It succeeds well in what it was designed for. Anything you can do on a BMX, you can do on this, except peg tricks/grinds. It is an excellent hardtail XC or all mtn ATB. On the Street, it's almost as fast as a hybrid. more stylish but not as practical for commuting. Very reliable as long as you keep close tabs on the crank bolts
There are several similar bikes, like the P series, Gary Fisher Bigg'ns and the Cannondale Chase series. they basically all have the same geometry share similar overall characteristics and generally differ only in componentry and price. For under $500 there are only 4 choices. A Trek, a Fisher, a Mongoose (Fireball), and this bike. The STP 3 had the best components, fork and standard equipment for My Money. Buy a suspension post and a cushy seat with the Bux U save. good starter bike. upgrade as u wear it out. Bang 4 the buck is why I boought this black beauty, and still don't regret it. I'm dockin 1 chili overall for the El Cheepo inner tubes, Creaky crank and delicate "girly-man from Wussyville" chainrings
