Favorite Trail:cannonball run, Thredbo
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $3300.00
Purchased At:lbs
Strengths:-rims -Shock
-frame -the whole thning
-bars, stem
Weaknesses:rear bolt came loose, but with loc tite it's sweet.
Similar Products Used:giant faith, scott nitrous 20
Bike Setup:stock
Bottom Line:although i haven't ridden it much (due to a snapped wrist) what i have done on it was great. the rear end doesn't bob that much and both front and back are really adjustable which makes it good for most styles of riding.
i know it is not meant for it but with the rear shock rebound 1 click from fully slow, it is a great skate park bike, not as good as my stp but the best dually. i havent done any trails but from what i have done and what i have heard its going to be sweet.
i have always hated rock shocks but now i have properly tried the race that are on the DH Comp i have changed my mind.

Favorite Trail:keilor hill
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $3100.00
Purchased At:Gold cross
Strengths:the giant dh comp is a solid built bike that handles speed and drops well. The stable platform/ lockout on the rear shock is handy when i want to free ride with the bike. However as i am 6,2 and only 74kg's i dont know how well this would work for someone heavier.
Weaknesses:the rear shock leaks oil! in addition having recently purchased a shock pump for the bike i found the bike had been sold to me with only 5 psi in the rear shock, there is supposed to 80 to 175psi in it! try fitting it on a bike rack!
Similar Products Used:pro flex, mongoose rockadile
Bike Setup:as stock with the exception of dmr v8 pedals
Bottom Line:good bike, slighlty worried about oil leakage, however over all this bike builds confidence and challenges me to find better and bigger tracks to test this MACHINE out on. on a different note will not fit on a normal bike rack.

Price Paid: $3150.00
Purchased At:Georges Bike Shop
Strengths:Suprisingly good Freerider. Suprisingly great pedaller (better than my AC2). Back end doesn't bob much. Confidence inspiring. Great Downhiller. Suprisingly good hucker. Cheap as dirt (the good kind of dirt).
Weaknesses:Not much other than get ur swing-arm bolts Locktited before you ride (got my LBS to do it before I took it home). The seat canes my ass on long rides (I should get that replaced). Other than that, none. Maybe replace the bashguard because everyone says it's crap.
Similar Products Used:Giant AC2
Bike Setup:Stock, Odyssey JC pedals
Bottom Line:I really didn't expect it to be a good pedaller or freerider, but it's actually really good and I take it everywhere. I barely get tired on the uphills (even steep ones). Kicks ass on drops and downhills (I've managed to keep up with all the other downhillers even on my first few rides at my trail). It keeps in much more control than my AC2 did (well what do you expect?). I suggest you get some sort of mud guard for the back because it flicks crap into my shoes and gets really annoying going over small rocks or sand. For crazy/hardcore freeriders or aspiring downhillers, this is definatly the bike for YOU.

Submitted by Alex Sol a Downhiller from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico
Date Reviewed: March 2, 2005
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $3400.00
Purchased At:Local Bike Shop
Strengths:Amazing rear suspension linkage works like a charm. I changed the boxxer for a marzocchi 888VF and this suspension works absolutely incredible. I have bottomed this fork a few times on some drops so if you are thinking about buying this fork get the one that has 200mm of travel i got the one that has 170mm.
Weaknesses:The bolts that tighten the rear suspension keep coming loose. You should remember to put lock tight on them so they stop coming loose every time you ride. Aside from that the bike is amazing.
Similar Products Used:Giant AC1, Foes DHS mono
Bike Setup:All stock except for: Marzocchi 888VF, Sun intense rims
Bottom Line:Great bike for the price, i was really amazed at how well it descends. It really inspires confidence to the rider. I would recommend this bike to anyone, experienced or not.

Strengths:it is basically bomb proof, and decends awesome. takes the jumps sweet and is pretty good around the streets.
Weaknesses:i am young really little so it is a bit heavy and bops a bit, but thats all.
Similar Products Used:i used to ride an avanti montari comp and a 2005 AC but have ridin demo 8 pros, santa cruz v 10 and orange 223s awesome bikes but too dear.
Bottom Line:it is an awesome bike, feels like it has infinite travel. takes the big drops really well and decends beautiful. i would reccomend this bike for the money because you dont really have to pay any more and compared to the other dh rigs this is the best one i feel.

Bottom Line:Get this bike if you want value for your $.i came from a hardtail on to this and its perfect.Handles well, nice a high speed.pops me up nice on dirt jumps.shock feels bottom less, same up front. It feels very solid. feels like it can handle anything too.i got a large and im 6' 1" but it is still east to whip, throw round

Favorite Trail:Eildon
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Goldcross Cycles
Strengths:Excellent bike out of the box for $3600.00 Aus, light, strong, easy to set up then ride UP & down hills. Excellent travel & well balance suspension.
Weaknesses:Rear linkage bolts need to be removed & locktite used before refit & first ride.
Similar Products Used:2004 Giant AC1
Bike Setup:Standard other than 36T front chain wheel for lower gear up hill climbs
Bottom Line:Top free ride / down hill bike that is easy to pedal flats & mild up hills with reasonable efficiency. Can pedal steep hills but depending on ride style you can get a bit of a bounce standing up.
Down hill is fantastic & stopping power using Hayes hydrolic with new scolloped disks will not let you down.
Love it!
