Nothing on my frame is stock except the levers and seatpost(which need replacing). I race this bike a lot. I needed to buy a brake booster because you can see the frame flex out. Problem Solved. UPGRADE EVERYTHING. Just buy a nice bike out of the box. I could have bought a Stumpjumper M2 with a Chris King Wheelset and headset for the same price. I still love it. I don't realy need to upgrade anything, except; pedals, seat(I hate riding on my genitalia) Since shocks are for the weak, another $50 ought to do 'er. so for $350 bucks Canadian, I feel as though i got a "killer deal dude". This bike is great for a beginner-intermediat rider, someone who likes to bag on their bikes allot might need to buy new wheels, after getting them cought in rocks, or hittin curbs, however I haven't had to buy new wheels yet. Don't try anything else or you will break it. If you plan on doing anything remotely like mountain biking, spend that extra $ for a nice bike. Beautiful paint-job (front to back: deep purple clear coat fading to black )Monotube seat-stay design is clean looking. | | Weaknesses: | Component grouping is average quality, good for the money though. SR Suntour crankset has six(?)bolt pattern - good luck upgrading the chainrings without changing the entire crankset. GIANT still uses SR Suntour cranks on their new bikes, why I don't know, when Shimano has cheap cranks too, and they use the more easily upgradable 4 or 5 bolt pattern. The paint is very delicate - beautiful, but easily scratched. Didn't GIANT think to spray a coat of tough lacquer or clear-coat or something over this sexy paint-job?? Seat-tube diameter is 31.6, you'll need an adapter to use a seatpost with the more common 27.2 size. | | Similar Products Used: | Old CCM 28" wheeled hybrid style bike (it fit me perfect, but it just finally got too beat up from me trying to ride it like it was a mountain bike) | | Bike Setup: | Two years later, this Giant Yukon is almost unrecognizable!! I've upgraded everything except the brake-levers, the cables, and the front derailleur. Marzocchi Z-4 fork, SRAM Plasma shifters, Mavic rims, Shimano XT hubs and LX hollowtech crankset, Axiom Ti seatpost & stem, Avid Arch-rival-50 brakes, Selle Italia Nitrox seat, Continental tires | | Bottom Line: | Even though I've probably spent more on upgrading the original bike than it would've cost me to have just bought one like it in the first place, I feel that I now have a totally customized bike. It's mine!! The frame is light (although not butted) and is just as good as anything out there today. I did look into upgrading the frame too, but I couldn't find a frame that wasn't butt-ugly and I also couldn't rationalize spending an additional $1000 Cdn. in an attempt to shave a few ounces off the weight of the bike. Sure the new frame would've been hi-tech and butted, so what?? I'm not a world class racer. Besides, the biggest reason I didn't just plunk down my hard earned $2500 Cdn. all at once in the first place is because my wife would have choked me. This bike is very rigid. It has got a butted top tube, down tube and seat tube.
It also got ovalised down tube and top tube. I was impressed with the welds on the frame of the bike. SHOULD I GET RST MOZO PRO 3.5 OR INDY C OR INDY XC FOR MY GIANT YUKON?
