Submitted by Ernst Poulsen a Cross-Country Rider from Aarhus, Denmark
Date Reviewed: May 17, 1999
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Excellent frame-stifness for loading lots of luggage. Magura Hydro-brakes require almost no maintenance. Rode 1500 miles - didn't adjust anything at all yet. (just replaced brake pads).
Weaknesses:
Electrical system doesn't last more than a few months. (As on previous models). Replacement pads for Magura-hydro brakes are very expensive.
Similar Products Used:
Spezialized Sequia
Bike Setup:
21 speed, Magura Hydrolic brakes, Low Rider front carriers, mudguards which carry electric current for lights front and back.
Bottom Line:This is an excellent bike for those who want to ride 500-1000 mile trips - with very little technical maintenance. One weakness which needs improvement is lighting-system. This bike is probably not a round-the-world bike, as some sollutions are to high-tech for the far outback parts of the world. (Magura hydro brakes and Alu-frame).
Overall Rating:4
