I think the bike is great value and it comes with good basic components - especially the SRAM 7.0 drivetrain which needs no upgrading.
The frame is a quality light item. In over 5000 miles and one huge front end it still looks perfect after a polish. Upgrading the drivetrain to STX-rc (Alivio wore out after 3k) and brakes for XC. along with new bars, headset, stem and Bomber z-5 have transformed the bike into a light, tight and fast XC machine. OK, so the money I've spent I could get a decent Kona or GT or something, but I didn't have the money to buy one so went the upgrade route.
Bottom line - this bike is a bargain you can use straight out of the box, and updgrade into a serious machine - seomthing you can't do with similarly priced GT Outpost trails and Kona Hahanas. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

on Specialized Nimbus EX or Wildgripper lite s | | Bottom Line: | You hardly ever see this bike about - and I reckon the price is the problem. UK list price is £400 - that's way above entry Boulder and close to decent ATX money. Too much for beginners, to low for a good upgrade - highend bike.
But you can snap them up discounted for £260.
At that price, you are not going to find a better aluminium frame or components. DC brakes are better than the older models used on current full-sus £1000+ Treks, the Alex wheels are very light, the SRAM 8. gripshift is fantastic.
I have done over 3000 miles in six months and apart from two sets of Koolstops the bike has been bombproof and fun.
It's great offroad, and because of its weight storms on road to, on semi-slicks.
The only poor thing is it comes with Wildgrippers, which are light and OK on mud but a bit treacherous otherwise and flat very very very easily.
In the market for a budget bike - Coldrock rocks.
