This bike does everything.I've had to spend virtually nothing on this bike after 2 years of hard use apart from routine maintenace and pads and tyres.
I keep thinking about changing it but i can't see a bike that can rival it for the money,or give me as much pleasure as this bike does. Some people say its bland, what they mean is its really competent and gets on with the job.

Maestro design really works. Well specked for the price.
Weaknesses:
Many defective parts right out of the box: the rear hub was slack, discs were warped, the chain broke on first ride ravaging the xo and hanger and damaging the frame. waited 2 weeks for giant representative to see the bike. all this to hear that giant takes no responsability for any crappy parts they put on their bikes; you have to deal with the companies.
This mess made me realise that the dropouts are way too thin for an all-mountain bike. they took off 1.5 pound of aluminium compared to last model. its nice to reduce weight, but not when it compromises frame resistance.
Similar Products Used:

This is why giant is cheaper than many other bikes; the warranty only covers the frame if it breaks by itself. dont expect any service if a part is involved in the process of wrecking your bike.
Wake up giant! it is unacceptable to have no quality control on 3000+$ bikes!
I have had ploblems on all 3 brand new giant full susp I've bought...beleive me, this is the last one!
conclusion: very good all around bike if you are lucky enough to have one with good parts. Giant warranty is virtual, quality control is non existant and service is worth nothing.

This bike is just amazing. The Maestro suspension design really shines. All you have to do is point the bike up a hill and pedal. Climbs like damn ski lift. And once you get to the top you're rewarded with the an awesome decent. This bike just soaks up everything. Pick a line? pshhh, forget that. Just go anywhere you want, the bike will not lose it's composure. The bike does great on twisty singletrack as well. The 69 degree head angle really makes this bike handle sharply.
I really can't see how other bikes in this class can outshine such a great value. A tool like this should really not be allowed at this price. In my opinion giant has made and star here.
Lightweight: 28 lbs stock
Quick: Maestro suspension really lends itself well to great takeoffs.
Ok, as you can see above, I've owned quite a range of bikes in the past 5 years. I'm 38 now and have been epic riding & racing mountain bikes since I was 16. I've had a lot of really awesome bikes over the years. The Intense 6.6 was awesome but a bit on the heavy side for all the cross country I do and of course all the climbing we get ourselves into around Whistler/Pemberton. I did the Trans Rockies last year on the Anthem Advanced and it was a fantastic bike but this year I decided to dial back on the racing and just have fun. This bike seemed to tick all the boxes and when I looked at the new Intense Tracer and compared price, the Giant just couldn't be beat. Especially with the specs on it. It's got all the components I would have chosen if I were building it from scratch. Ok, I would have put Sram XO instead of X9 and I may have put carbon riser bars instead of alloy but hey, for the price why niggle on the little things.
So, today I picked up the bike and did my usual local 1 hour loop. One that I know well and ride weekly. The bike is amazing! It's 28 lbs right out of the box and it rides like my Anthem. Not quite as quick of course but it's light enough to climb like nothing. You can point it at anything and the 6 inch travel eats it up and of course on the technical descents were a joy. Where I ride, the descents are steep with dropoffs and lots of butt over the rear wheel surfing. This bike had no problems with any of it and I actually cleaned one section that I always get off on and this is only my 2nd ride of the year!
Cut to the chase. Buy this bike if you ride technical terrain more so than logging roads. It's gonna handle the logging roads fine but if you're in more Whistler-style terrain like me this is the absolute one-bike weapon for your season. Go buy one. I can't wait to ride mine again tomorrow. I might even sleep with it tonight!

This bike is awesome. I love everything about it except for one thing. The mounting hardware on the top of the dhx 4 keeps loosing up and giving some sloppy play to the rear end. each time I change the upper sleeve and hardware it is tight, but loosens up after several rides. It's a cheap fix, but requires a press and is a hassle. I can't help but think there is a rocker arm problem. You get a great bang for you buck, but surely I'm not the only one having this problem. Lift up on the seat and feel the thunk. I can't see any damage to the frame so I don't think it's bent. Great bike I just can't figure out how to fix the problem and the mechanics don't seem to have a fix either. disclaimer: I have ridden the crap out of this bike and it has been awesome, but one year isn't enough. I'll try something else, but I guarantee you'll love this bike brand new. It's the best i've ridden

Maestro really rocks. DHX Air 4.0 is great and has enough and simple, on the trail, settings. Handles very well on any kind of climbs, but really excels on technical and steep. Parts are very well chosen to save weight (29 lb. my M). The combination of Maestro, DHX, 2.35 Nevegals and Fox 32 Talas RL make this bike a great all mountain.
Weaknesses:
Seatpost doesn't go down all the way, so it's kind of scary in steep/technical downhills. Besides, you've got to take care of YOUR parts... Fixed with Titec Scoper seatpost and all set.

Geometry and bike setup make it a great all mountain bike. It is plush and grippy. Rear feels true and predictable. Frame appears to be very stiff, but time will tell. Bottom Line:
I love this bike. When I was looking at buying my new bike i looked at the specs for this and thought too heavy, too much travel, too expensive, not for me. My local bikeshop pursuaded me to take a testbike out for a weekend and i bought mine that day!
The bike does everything well. I can go out and play on the DH track and whilst i wont be as quick as the boys with big toys its still very capable. I can go out on all day XC epics and generaly is only my (lack of) fitness that stops me being at the front of the pack.
Putting the AM1's on have slackened the head angle from stock, which has made it decend even better, but the ETA allows you to lockdown 120mm to have only 30mm(ish) travel with a steep head angle which makes climbing a lot easier.

Bottom Line:
I've been testing hard bikes for over one year before taking my decision, so this was no casual nor approximative choiche. I have specific needs for very technical epic rides on the Alps.
Great horse if you go for the tough trails, both up and down the mountain. Position is very well centred between wheels, lets u keep on with the pedaling even when it gets really steep and slippy or rocky. Off course it weights more than a XC, so you'll climb slower, but you will be climbing to the top of anything if u got legs.
Once up there release suspensions, stretch front fork to 160mm (feels perfect on this bike, much better than the 140 standard) and let it take you down no matter what.
The front is as steady as a train, the rear follows without complaining, always functional no matter how hard you're braking, no pedal kickback, very smooth, check your speed or you will need good stamina to keep up with the rythm this bike can handle.
Goes with the best and way more expensive bikes, perfect if you search for the steepest and the most technical trails, otherwise a bit wasted (130mm is enough for the normal trail rider IMHO).
I love it!

This is the bike I was looking for. It climbs anything and everything in front of it, it goes down with the best of them, it is light enough to not weigh you down on those long epics and it is super fun to ride. After trying everything else, this bike was the clear champion.
I raced the 24hrs of adrenaline this past weekend and had a super fun time passing all the people on their light bikes and putting in one of the fastest lap times. This bike is capable of keeping up to the fastest of the fast, if you are.

Then get it out in the hills and it's superb! Climbs so easily. Then point it downhill and away you go. It's helped me try loads of obstacles I never did before and makes me look awesome! It definitely corrects your mistakes. Build quality is superb and it's the maximum spec in its price range. I challenge anyone to find an equally spec'd bike for the same money. Giant stand by their bikes too by giving a lifetime frame warranty which is well helpful. It's also worth noting that I'm a total clydesdale, over 275lbs in the saddle, and it's taken some big hits with me and just keeps going. Wheels still true and bearings all good! I can't say enough great things about this frankly amazing bike. If you can afford it, buy one... otherwise you're a chopper! Would give it 6 chillis if I could!

The paint chips extremely easily, currently undiagnosed issue with the cranks making 'springy' noises
This bike represents great value for money if you are looking for a true do it all type bike, it rides well over long distances though it does feel cramped and it also rides well through drops and rough terrain though not as good as DH specific bikes, basically if you are looking for a dedicated XC/DH/FR machine look elsewhere but if you are looking for one bike to do it all have a look at the Reign's.
I have had a couple of issues, the first is a springy sounding BB, my rear hub was slightly out of alignment and a bent rear rotor and all but the BB issue has been fixed.
Anouther picky thing is with the paint, instead of scratching like a normal frame it seems to chip, this is emphasised by the creamy colour, a minor quirk and only cosmetic but it could look bad a year or so down the line.
Also 2snake below is crazy, he is just hating on everything that isn't SRAM, the SRAM front derailleurs suck anyway compared to the XT that is on the Reign, the bike comes with CrossMAX Xl's which are awesome, yes they might have an issue that the hub comes a bit loose but I have had no problems other than it being slightly loose and needing to be fixed once, for the money it can't be beaten and the component choice is pretty much spot on with Giant spending the money where it needed to be spent.

stock Reign0- aside from Serfas rx grips, kenda bluegroove/nevegal tires- shorter stem and different bb/chain/saddle on the way
Bottom Line:
giant had a good idea, but they were too cheap to us quality components, i regret paying what i did, for what i got! While this bike rides very nicely, it should be quite a bit more durable to be considered an all mountain bike. The frame, suspension and a good portion of the drive-train is quality, but this company needs to learn how to ship its bikes and not half ass their packages by putting crappy components on their high end bikes!!! Buy this bike if you want to replace a good couple hundred dollars worth of components to get it close to its full potential! Lets hope giant has bettered their line this coming year, otherwise they will get left behind.

Great Bike. I rode this bike last weekend and I still have a smile on my face! I just ordered mine today, can't wait to get it.
Weaknesses:
None on test. I rode it for about 4 hours and it was AWESOME!
Similar Products Used:
Cannondales, Specialized Stumpy and new 07 enduro, GT I-drive 5.0 and many more.
Bike Setup:
The bike was stock except for carbon Pluto Bars, stem and seat post. It also had a bash guard in place of the big ring.
Bottom Line:
To make a long story short, I am in the market to buy a new bike, I have ridden and owned many top end bikes. I spent the last 2 months renting and demoing 07 bikes. After last weekend I made up my mind. This is the bike for me. The bike is like a goat when it comes to climbing. For the down hill sections is was like the bike was reading my mind - it went where I pointed it. If you are looking for one bike to do it all with, THIS IS THE BIKE. Go ride one and you will see why I still have a smile on my face:-)

Strengths:
Light weight, agile, efficient, beefy, and super fast. Great bang for your buck, compared to boutique brands and bank account destroyers. Float RLC, RP23, and 7-inch Hayes carbon seal the deal. Nothing crazy, just a very smart setup. The fact it looks rad doesn't hurt, but i can't see it when I'm riding.
Weaknesses:
Felt a bit short-changed with Race Face Evolve bar and stem on such a top end bike, but that forced me to purchase a killer combo.
Similar Products Used:
05 Giant Trance 1 - great bike and still in the family
Bike Setup:
CrossMax Xl w/ Continental Gravity 2.3 tubeless; Blackspire 36 and Lite God super light bash guard; Trigon carbon bar (dope), Pazzaz carbon stem; ODI Rogue lock-ons; egg beaters
Bottom Line:
Wow, I wasn't 100% sure jumping from the Trance, but holy smokes, this is a match made in heaven. With the weight savings I've made over stock I'm in the 29s for weight (within 1 lb of my Trance setup), so it climbs all the steeps and devours the technical I've hit so far. Very very fast and stable descending. It's amazing what a degree and a half up front and a couple of inches of quality travel can do. The RP23 kills the RP3 and so far it hasn't blown up (I'm nervous). Fork isn't overly plush, but we'll see if it breaks in. Haven't even considered the lockout yet, but I'm sure there's some big fire road climbs out here waiting. Way better ground clearance without the big ring and higher BB (often clip pedals on a Trance) and no stress about wrecking expensive ring. The 22/36 gives a huge range, and shifting front and rear is sweet now I'm over the cable stretch. I also thought I'd dislike SRAM shifters and rear derail after XT rapid rise triggers, but am sold after only 6 or 7 rides. A tubeless upgrade is in my opinion a no-brainer, especially if the wheel/tire combo sheds weight. I'm 145lbs, so the Reign X1 isn't necessary, but if you're big or airborne maybe take a look, since they pedal stellar too. Super stoked as long as Fox rear hangs in.

Strengths:
Meastro suspension, Fox RLC and RP23, Hayes Carbon brakes (though factory bleed was so so). Drivetrain great. Light for this much travel. Great price for a bike this good. On my first descent, I was shaking my head the whole way, I couldn't beleive how capable this bike was.
Weaknesses:
Wheelset is a bit too light for heavy-riding folk. There is no front axle (just plugs) and they cause a tiny amount of sideways play that I suspect cannot be fixed.
Similar Products Used:
Giant Trance, which I still own and love (see my review)!
Bike Setup:
Stock but for 50mm stem, wider Kore bars, Maxxis tires (I didn't even bother with the stock tires), rock ring instead of big ring, ODI grips (stock too lumpy on the ends).
Bottom Line:
This bike is still giving me that 'new bike' feeling three months later. This bike is very capable, comfortable and it is very fast and fun on the rougher stuff (easy to pop up and over rocks/ledges or double-up rocks and roots), yet climbs very well for this much travel. The tyres just stay stuck to the ground.
Beginners, huckers, and XC, Enduro and DH racers, this is not the bike for you. Everyone else that loves to ride, wants to go faster in the gnarl, can only have one bike or can't date a supermodel to make your friends jealous, this is the bike for you. Riding is too important to me to make bad choices but my wallet and soul thank me. You will not be disappointed once you ride it.
You could spend more but you won't get a better bike, just a different bike. 5 chilis all-round for a bike of bliss!

Bottom Line:
What a bike to ride fast stable soaks up most stuff.I love to race cross country and for an all mountain rig its also a competitive bike to ride. Uphills arn't an issue the maestro suspension keeps the rear end tracking beautifully. The occasional down hill runs can be tackled with confidence due to the light bit strong and stiff Pikes up front and the super stopping Juicy's. The bike has been ridden in 24hr 12hr 8hr Endurance events taking them all in its stride. Anyone after a genuine do it all bike should seriosly consider the Reign.

Sweet looks, stiffness and build quality of the frame, fox fork(float 32 RLC)and shock(RP23), quality components, light weight for a 6" travel bike, maestro suspension technology, mavic crossmax sx wheels(they look trick),avid juicy 5 brakes-strong with good feel, the price.
Weaknesses:
Nothing major, the hutchinson barracuda tyres are extremely slow rolling, mis-matched derailluers-the front is a low normal and the rear is a high normal-meaning that changing up and down gears on the front derailluer is the opposite to ghanging up and down gears on the rear derailluer- ANNOYING,(i hope that made sense), the propedal lever on the shock is awkward to use while riding and the front brake line is a bit long.
Similar Products Used:
Giant VT2(awesome bike), rock shox pikes, swinger 3-way, hayes hfx9, syncross BHT tyres
Bike Setup:
You dont really need to change too much with the spec this bike comes with. I swapped the tyres for syscross BHT's because they roll better than the barracuda's and i find they work great for all mountain riding. At a later date i might change a derailluer to fix my shifting complaint
Bottom Line:
I have to admit i did'nt like the looks of the reign 0 based on brochure's and advertising photo's, but once i laid eye's on one i had to have it. I've only had the bike for a short time but after the third ride and a bit of time setting it up i can definitely say its a far better bike than my old VT2. The first thing i noticed was how stiff the frame felt. This is a huge step over the VT's which suffered badly from flex. Im still getting use to the RP23 rear shock and while it has'nt impressed me it has'nt let me down either. There is not a lot to adjust, so just find air spring pressure, compression, reboundand and the propedal setting that feels right for you and leave it, its as easy as 1,2or3. The forks are smooth and easy to setup, find your air sping pressure, set compression and rebound add then your blow-off platform. The reign is a strong, light and top quality bike at a great price. The reign 0 fits its intended purpose spot on and will suit anyone looking for a 6" travel all-mountain bike. Avid juicy 5 brakes are strong and progressive giving heaps of feel for braking and stoppies. The race face deus finishing kit is a great spec and the seat post adjustment is the best i've used. The SDG bellair saddle is a good fit and comfy for those long rides. The reign 0 pedals up hill fairly well, rips up single track and bombs down hill like a run away freight train. So do yourself a favour and buy one!!!

Bottom Line:
I have only owned this bike about a month, so I intend on submitting a full review after at least 6 months of good, hard riding.
I am writing to note how immature and ignorant reviews such as the one below are, and how detrimental they are to the site. Firstly, I have serious doubts that any bike in the Reign series is as big a failure as the previous review suggests. A company doesn't go from 4.6/5 ratings to garbage over one season, while only improving upon componentry. Everyone is entitled to review and post their experiences about their bike, but when it is done in the below fashion, with no backing facts and writing comparable to that of a fourth grader, the only purpose it is serving is to mislead those browsing the entire MTBR catalogue of bikes for a quality, dependable ride.
I have yet to push my Reign to its limit, but thus far it feels like a rock-solid unit with all top-shelf components. I settled on purchasing this bike based on two factors: one, the overall feel of sitting on and riding this and related bikes at shops; and two, reading and weighing the pros and cons as posted on this site. Idiots who feel like making egregious posts for no logical reason and dampen the true rating of a bike or component are only working towards making this site useless for the kind of research that is necessary when buying a bike or component.
