Favorite Trail:Fairmount Park
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $220.00
Purchased At:Newtown Cycle and fi
Strengths:Good solid bike. all original except the pedals. frame shock and rims have sustained a heavy beating. gears shift smooth. shock responsive and worthy of some higher priced bikes
Weaknesses:plastic pedals. and solid guard on front gear set.
Similar Products Used:Trek antelope
Bike Setup:All original. just upgraded to crank brothers 50/50 pedals.
Bottom Line:Good bike for a good price. it can take a beating. i ride with my brother and a group of friends. i am riding the cheapest bike in the group. i have no problem keeping up with my brother and friends who are riding the likes of KONA, TREK and Iron Horse full suspension downhill bombers. late last year i hit a patch of loose dirt and had a run in with a large tree, the bike took a good shot with no damage done. the only thing i dislike is plastic pedals. i have taken this bike off of jumps maxing 10' without question. the only damage the bike has sustained other than breaking a pedal(thats expected with plastic) is that I've bent a gear because of the inability of the bike to accept a rock ring. otherwise i love it.

Favorite Trail:Knobb Hills Trail in Flower Mound, Texas
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $180.00
Purchased At:McCully Sports in Honolulu
Strengths:seat (second most comfortable seat ever), grips, cassette, price
Weaknesses:cheap everything (except seat!)
Similar Products Used:Gary Fischer Marlin, Specialized Hard Rock, Giant Iguana
Bike Setup:upgraded to Wellgo steel pedals, better Shimano crankset
Bottom Line:This was my first real bike after a Huffy, Magna, and Roadmaster. So i really thought this was a great bike that could take anything i could throw at it. When i moved to Vancouver, i started doing downhill mountain trails. Things i broke/replaced: bent handlebars, destroyed front rim, pedals, ovalized crank arm, brake pads, brake pads, brake pads. Things not replaced but in pretty bad shape after a year: cables pretty rusted, brake springs and screws rusted over and frozen, front derailleur just not doin' the job, seat kind of noisy, fork almost totally frozen.

To put this all into perspective: During the 15 months or so i rode this bike, i only had a car for about 4 of them. Meaning, this bike was how i got around. Easily several thousands of miles put on this bike, and in that light, i think it held up rather well. Also, PLENTY of recreational riding which included the aforementioned trails, 6 foot drops on grass, 4 foot drops on concrete, riding down countless sets of stairs, and some wheelies that just went wrong. The rust probably comes from having the bike in Honolulu and Vancouver, both VERY wet places near the sea. And i didn't lube or take care of the brakes as i should have. The bike was also shipped by UPS/FedEx 3 times, during which it took some SERIOUS beatings.

This should be a great bike for anyone not intending to do very extreme riding but wants the option of trailing. OR a good bike for poor college students (like me) who are sick of Huffies and Roadmasters.

Date Reviewed: February 16, 2003
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Price Paid: $220.00
Purchased At:Mike's Bikes
Strengths:Good solid bike, good for kids.
Weaknesses:very low componets and no shocks.
Bike Setup:stock
Bottom Line:Better then a Walmart bike, this bike is great for pre-teens who need an inexpensive bike to get around. It's price is reasonable if your bike shop offers a good service plan. Most likly you'll want to go a bit higher if you plan on biking seriously
