$1800.00 | | Purchased At: | Private Sale | | Strengths: | Almost everything, its not too heavy and its fast. Its pretty strong too. | | Weaknesses: | The stock fork and chainguide. Put some locktight on the rear suspension bolts and your good to go | | Similar Products Used: | I've ridden my freind's Bighit quite a bit | | Bike Setup: | Intense lock ons, Marzo Monster, Crank Brothers 50/50 pedals, e-13. The DH doesn't really need to have anything else changed except for the wheelset. | | Bottom Line: | If you can get it for a deal. Do it. If you can't get it for a deal. Do it anyways. This is one sick bike. If you like mostly downhilling and freeriding then get this thing. And whoever says this thing can do XC is crazy. I find that my DH is wayyy to heavy. But its impossible to break this thing. I'm 220 pounds and 6,0 and I just can't break it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2000.00 | | Strengths: | Great bike takes the big hit and everything done 13+ foot drops and nothing has happened. Brakes are sweet!! Excellent rear suspension front boxxer race are SH!T!!!! Excellent price for what you get! | | Weaknesses: | Swing arm bolts came lose on the second ride. BOXXER RACE ARE SH!T!!!!! Back shock is a pain in the ass to get to!!! | | Similar Products Used: | Kona stinky dee lux | | Bike Setup: | Marzocchi 888's. snafu bars ends every else is stock. | | Bottom Line: | This bike is AWESOME!!!!!! If your looking for a great bike that can do anything and take everything this is the bike for you. I have thrashed this bike and it still goes. I change the forks to 888's and f#cked off the boxxers. Now she goes better than before. Nice price for what you get. Goes to show that you don't to buy expensive bikes oranges and foes to get a decent downhill/freeride bike!!!!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$3000.00 | | Purchased At: | Local Shop | | Strengths: | Great company, good parts(except Boxxer and Chainguide), super smooth ride, sweet A$$ looks, Swinger 6-way, 5 yr. frame warranty!!! | | Weaknesses: | Crappy Boxxer Race(damping sucks), crappy chainguide(NOT a bashguard at all), just a little bit difficult to adjust R. shock(get it dialed and your set though) | | Similar Products Used: | Giant AC 2 w/ Jr. T | | Bike Setup: | Shiver DC, Evil SRS guide, Blackspire 38T DH ring, Azonic A-Frame pedals, Titec Amore seat, Diabolus 31.8 bars, ODI Ruffian grips --- STOCK OTHERWISE | | Bottom Line: | This bike is freakin' sweet. All those chumps that tell you that you need to spend 5k+ to have a good race/freeride bike are smokin' too much. This bike rides super smooth especially with the Swinger 6 way (75psi, hi/lo compression 1.5 clicks from close, 16mm socket 4 turns in, rebound 4 clicks from close). Be sure to locktite linkage (AND leave overnight w/o getting on the bike -- VERY IMPORTANT!) before you ride the bike and you will be dialed!! This thing will amaze you. The only other real weaknesses are the fork and the guide. Other than that... this thing is bombproof and does anything (DH, Freeride, XC... oh wait). BUY IT NOW!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2200.00 | | Purchased At: | Hutch's Bike Shop in Bend OR | | Strengths: | Very well built, heavy duty, great suspension and the brakes are sweet. | | Weaknesses: | Weighs 40 lbs | | Similar Products Used: | Giant Warp DS1 | | Bike Setup: | All Stock except Crank Bros Mallet C egg beater pedals | | Bottom Line: | This bike is AWESOME, it feels like you are riding on air compared to other full suspension bikes which bottom out on the slightest bump. The wide front tire and geometry of the bike compares to riding a dirt bike only without the motor. The eight inch hydrolic disc brakes stop on a dime even when wet. This bike is definitely worth the price I paid. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2000.00 | | Purchased At: | Frame in Australia parts out here | | Strengths: | The bike is a dream -awesome suspension -takes the big hits -decends like a dream -it makes you feel like bender/steve peat | | Weaknesses: | you always want to check the bolts on the swingarm before each ride because they come loose | | Similar Products Used: | none except my kona chute which is a pretty aewsome rig | | Bike Setup: | stock except redline pedals | | Bottom Line: | The is an awesome bike. If you are looking to do some freeriding or downhill, this is the bike of choice. It bombs the hill with speeds of a missile and takes drops with ease. As the great Josh Bender once said:

from East Coast Date Reviewed: October 17, 2003 | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | overbuilt, inspires confidence | | Weaknesses: | crappy fork (boxxer race), rear shock is not only a pain to get to, but also has a tendency to blow up on you. Week stock bearings in main pivots and the chain guide is a peice | | Similar Products Used: | GT DH-i race, Tomac 204, Kona stab, V-10 | | Bike Setup: | Supter T, mrp... a few other little changes here and there, but basicaly stock | | Bottom Line: | The bikes decent... the Giants tend to run really big, and ride more like a 125 than a DH bike. If your one of those people who likes to jump stuff and carress the bike, than stay away, unless your planing on puting in $$$ to really lighten the bike up a few pounds. For $3200 I think you can find a better deal but over all a good solid bike... and to be honest I doubt that Im going to be buying another Giant any time soon. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2500.00 | | Purchased At: | chain reaction cycles | | Strengths: | Excellent components, not too heavey, does anything. excellent bike for the price. good for freeriders and downhillers | | Weaknesses: | Afew minor problems with the Manitou 6way spv rear shock leaking oil. Also check all bolts on the rear suspensioin are lock-tighted as they unwind easily | | Bike Setup: | 7 inch rock shox boxxers. race face prodigy components with titec. stock standard and no problems | | Bottom Line: | Highly recommend this bike. It will do any trail and jump off the roof of your house with no dificulties. May want to upgrade the front fork to something bulkier if you are a heavier rider who puts your bikes through some big hits. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Giant's DH chainguide is NOT a bashguard. | | Bike Setup: | Intense lock-on grips, Thompson seatpost, RF Diabolus stem, fork springs upgraded to X-firm. Evil (E13) SRS 44 special bash/chainguide. Swinger spring upgraded to 500lb. | | Bottom Line: | This bike kicks @$$. I am 6'2", 180lbs. This is the LARGE frame. I had to make some suspension setup changes, but now this thing is a guided missile! 8.25" with the Swinger shock eats up big hits and really pedals well.
Raceface Prodigy DH cranks are plenty stout for big drops and gap jumps, urban assault, etc.
This is a great DH/Freeride rig for $3k(or less) ;) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Pedals well. | | Weaknesses: | The thru axel sticks in the hub making it difficult to remove. Linkage must be taken apart to make adjustments to the air volume and pressure in the rear shock. | | Bottom Line: | Rides second to few. Price cannot be beat. $3020.00 | | Bottom Line: | It took me a while to get the rear shock out (to pump it up), so i wanted to save others mucking around. Undo both the bolts holding the shock in (at the top and bottom), remove the black 6mm bolt on the lowest point of the frame, and pull out the black linkage section. the rear wheel should now drop right down until it touches the seat, and you should be able to pull out the shock now. and its a great bike! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from North Cal USA Date Reviewed: January 14, 2003 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Awesome bike for the money...cant beat it. best part is the rear shock...(the linkage is pretty good too) | | Weaknesses: | the 2.8 front tire is very close to rubbing the arch of the boxxer...enough so that there is wear on the arch from the tire from hits and stuff (to the best of my knowledge, the boxxer is spec'd for a 2.7 max...youd think giant wouldve checked this out...)
i did loc-tite most of the frame pivots out of the box...have not had a problem with those (as there has been in the past)
the front thru axel is a pain in the ass to get out...(wont just slide right out)
have to take part of the linkage apart to get the shock out...which may require taking off the chain guide, depending on your ingenuity. (ie, cut part of an "L" shaped allen wrench off so itll fit in between the guide and the linkage...) and, you have to take the shock out to screw with a couple of the adjustments on it.. | | Similar Products Used: | YZ-125 | | Bike Setup: | stock right now | | Bottom Line: | i love this bike. although it does have its minor quirps, this bike is a good solid bike...definetly worth the money. now im gonna go ride...this internet stuff sucks | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
