Strengths:
Great value here. I own a dual suspension bike and wanted a hardtail to ride in certain situations, trails, etc. For the price this bike is built very well with Genesis Geometry and great components.
Bottom Line:
If you are looking to get into mountain biking without breaking the bank, go check out the Gary Fisher Marlin.

Strengths:
After being out of cycling for awhile and needing to get back in shape I bought this bike about 5 months ago. This Bike Fit me really well as I have a short Inseam but am not real short about 5'7. I ended up with a 17" and tested both the 15.5" and the 17". Best trait I think is the handling at speed and Dart 2 in this price range, I like the lock out. Also the brakes really impress me for being linear as opposed to discs. I will probably upgrae to discs eventaully and like the bike is redy to do so. In fact from the research I have done I think you get betterr brakes in a similar price range by buying the non-disc then upgrading as opposed to buying disc right off.
Weaknesses:
Still having some issues on rough climbs but I think that is me more then the bike. Seems to climb good on hardpack but roots and mud get me. Tires dont shed mud great and wore quick on pavement.

Bike Setup:
2008 Marlin 17" crank brothers mallet clipless pedals. Still expermenting with tires currently running stock Bontager up front and panarcer fire xc pro 2.1 in rear (127 TPI version).
Bottom Line:
I think in this Price Range I could not have got a better bike from a LBS. Since I always have a tendency to upgrade everything whether it be a bike, truck, jeep, computer, you get the point things like tires, pedals, and non-disc brake not an issue.

Gary Fisher frame with custom build
Bottom Line:
This frame is great for converting to single speed, dirt jumping, and cross country. It is lite with its tappered tubes. Its geometry is equally good for climbing or descending.
