Date Reviewed: February 25, 2009
Favorite Trail:Whistler
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1600.00
Purchased At:trade
Strengths:Rides nice, smooth, easy to control, light, yet still able to tackle some crazy stuff.
Weaknesses:stok fork and rear spring are waaay too soft even for someone who weighs like 120lbs...im not too sure of the rear drop outs, they look a bit scetchy
Similar Products Used:Devinci johnson, Norco Atomic, Giant Faith 3, Cannondale Gemini, Specalized BigHit Expert
Bike Setup:66vf1, DHX4.0(600X2.75) 24" S-Type, Hadley hub. pretty much the rest is stock
Bottom Line:awsome freeride/dh bike! might not be a super well known name like Norco, or Kona...but it rides the same, if not better than most of them

Date Reviewed: July 16, 2008
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $900.00
Purchased At:From a friend (NEW)
Strengths:Top end components out of the box,Takes everything I throw at it! Semi easy to pedal around town.
Weaknesses:weak rear spring caused alot of bottoming out (350lb spring + 180lb rider + big drops = chipped paint on frame from swingarm hitting it) I ride street alot and the tires don't last when doing so... but they are meant for dirt haha
Similar Products Used:not many... been riding xc and trials since the beginning.
Bike Setup:Basically stock except for a stronger chain, thicker tubes and a 500lb rear spring.
Bottom Line:This bike is awesome. Inspires confidence I didn't know I had in a bike. 15 foot drops to flat ground only made the rear suspension bottom out which a switch to a stronger spring and some dieting on my part cleared right up. all the components work very well together... I am a lil scared for the really expensive super delicate rear XO rear derailleur in the twisty woods with big rocks and such but w/e it performs so well that I dont want to change it out. In the end I would be hasty to pay full price for this beast but if you can find any kind of deal on one...snatch it up real quick!!!

Favorite Trail:Santos
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1300.00
Purchased At:Used (barely)
Strengths:Solid Frame, good components, plush suspension. It takes a little bit to get use to it (extra weight) but once you do, you will love it. On the trails, it handles anything in its way and corners well. It really shines coming of drops or jumps.
Weaknesses:Stock fork spring is a little too soft, had to replace with a more firm spring. Rear derailleur requires adjustment after every ride. The bike is a little on the heavy side so get in shape if you are riding long trails or climbing.
Similar Products Used:First Freeride bike
Bike Setup:2007 Model- all stock - Travis Fork, FoxDHX4.0 Shock, F/D SRam 9, R/D S/Ram X0
Bottom Line:An awesome bike. If you're doing a little of everything but go at it hard, this bike is for you.

Favorite Trail:none
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2900.00
Purchased At:Cycle Logic
Strengths:Great for all around biking. I dirt jump and ride rough trails mostly and it has worked out great in both environments. Shifting is smooth, the fork is fine if you don't mind slow rebound(when the fork isn't broken atleast), and the rear shock is great (fox 4.0).
Weaknesses:The Breakoutplus broke about 2 weeks in. I didn't even hit any jumps and the rebound was shot. This occurred two more times. The whole lowers had to be replaced to fix the problem. Clearly the breakout or Manitou itself does not have what it takes to be quality forks. I have heard of many other manitou forks having to be sent back multiple times, I wouldn't recommend these forks to anyone. The bolts on the bike itself arn't great. Some are galvanized some arn't so I have bolts rusting. I ordered some from Gary Fisher but they didn't have any, not impressed. I have also had trouble with bolts coming loose, a problem I have not had with any previous bikes. Now I have the rear wheel rubbing on the frame, my guess is it needs to be truved. The bike isn't able to hold up to the abuse over long periods of time, I have only had it for three months.
Similar Products Used:None
Bike Setup:Breakout plus, bontrager wheelset and components, saint cranks and sram x-0 dereilleur.
Bottom Line:It's a freeride bike and it does that job well but it just doesn't hold up over long periods of time. I bought the bike because I wanted one that could hold up but it has fallen short of what I expected.

Strengths:well, its a g fisher g, get it, g, so you know its got perfect hand made welding as well as stock manufacturing.
Weaknesses:on stock g fishers the floating rear brake can rattle a bit, but otherwise this bad boy can handle anything you throw at it.

Bottom Line:this mit will catch any baseball that comes near. So my advice is, don't hit it in right field. Go strait for the short stop so you can run away quickly on your g fisher to get to first baby!!!!

Date Reviewed: July 3, 2005
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $3200.00
Strengths:top end components, amazing suspension, strong ass frame period
Weaknesses:none so far
Similar Products Used:norco a-line, santa cruz vp10, specialized demo 8
Bottom Line:This ride can handle all the drops you through at it. I took it down to whisler B.C last month and it handled amazingly with no disappointments. The kingfisher weighs in at 40 pounds, not to heavy and not to light. With the flick of the valve on the sherman fork i can switch to a more suitable ride in the city and switch back to the downhill crazyness i push this bike through. This is the perfect bike for all you freeriders who demand the best when it comes to riding. All in all i love this bike, if you decide to purchase one, the king fisher 1 is definetly worth every coin
