$500.00 | | Purchased At: | brattleboro bike sh | | Strengths: | Reliable - indestructible - and simple too. | | Weaknesses: | S R Shocks provide no suspension. acera brakes could be better. | | Similar Products Used: | Canondale full suspension | | Bike Setup: | Unmodified from the time I bought it new in 92 until a very recent conversion to 700C wheels for commuting. | | Bottom Line: | This bike has served as reliable primary transportation for me and each of two sons over the years. Unlike my other bikes it has received virtually no PM, rwpairs, or upgrades. It has been crashed, left in the weather, and ignored, but it just keeps on ticking. Now I've stripped it all down and found the frame is solid and. all bearing surfaces intact. Next upgrade after the 700 c wheels w/ Ritchey pro cross tires will be a rigid fork and. V-brakes. I used Mavic horswshoes to adjust the cantilevered brkea to the road wheels. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$500.00 | | Purchased At: | Back Country Outfitters - Pisgah | | Strengths: | nice solid entry level cro-mo frame | | Weaknesses: | heavy, and heavy chain suckage, spec'd with Tange Struts which really suck, and some other rather low-end components (spider welded to crank arm). | | Similar Products Used: | Tassajara, Hoo Koo, Joshua | | Bike Setup: | Girvin Vector 2, Ritchey Logic clipless, Tioga kevlar beads | | Bottom Line: | No way this bike MSRP is $1200...I bought new in 1994 for ~$500. Unless it's a collector's item, which, if so, I regret selling. Nice bike, solid welds...the sizing was a bit off. A large was more like a 21" which was too big for me at 6'0". Good bike if you can find one. Give it 4 flamers, loses points for some rather crappy components and shock. I replaced the Tanges with a set of Girvin Vector 2 and that improved the ride dramatically. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$300.00 | | Purchased At: | 2nd hand from friend | | Strengths: | Reliable bike with stiff frame. Has good color scheme. Great entry level to moderate ride. Oldie but a goodie | | Weaknesses: | Wheels and drive train. Hard to find any aftermarket products and spare parts anymore. Everything advanced but the bike. | | Similar Products Used: | Old Diamondbacks | | Bike Setup: | Standard components with an old an Q21 Rockshock. | | Bottom Line: | Bought this bike in 1995 second hand when it was considered a new model. Game with a steel fork which I switched with what was considered latest shock techknowledgy a Q21 Rock shock. The bike has been a tireless, dependable, old friend. Bike is a little heavy and componenets not that great from factory but it never broke and still rode when the components were totally out of wack. Out to pasture now I have a new Hoo Koo E Koo. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Nice colors (Red and Yellow) | | Weaknesses: | None | | Similar Products Used: | Gary Fisher X-Cal, Gary Fisher Joshua XO | | Bike Setup: | Yellow Kore Lite Bar, Yellow Kore Stem, Red Chris King Headset, XT F + R der, Xt Crankset, DX ,yup, BMX brakes, hey, they're red, Red Selle Italia "Ferrari" saddle, Yellow SPIN wheels, Panaracer 1.8s with red sidewalls, Yellow RS Judy and Red DX pedals | | Bottom Line: | What can I say, Fantastic ride. Smooth sailing all the way. The SPIN wheels though heavier, actually balances the ride when a wierdo in a car zooms beside me. I Love this bike, and the Joshua and the X-Cal. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
