for the weight, and looks for the price, you can't really beat them. However. Only get them if your a weight weeney. and don't get the octolink bb version! get the ISIS bb versiion. The crank does flex a little, and that bothers me, but I've crashed and burned, mashed, and kept on going, without any problem! watch your chain rings though, they aren't very durable.

I am 6'4" and 220lbs in full gear and ride XC very aggressively. Once in while a 3 ft drop off and very fast downhill over rocky terrain. I have been riding these cranks for two years and they have performed very well. The only durability issues came when traversing a huge fallend log lengthwise and the rear end slipped off and I hit on the large chain ring. The 4 arm spider bent. I bent it back easily with a dead blow hammer carefully applied. This abuse is beyond what this crank is designed to take and it came through O.K. It takes the occasional rock strike to the pedals and large chain ring impacts over large logs well (without bending). I would highly recommend the product to anyone who is looking for lightweight components on a cross country bicycle.

I made a hard choice not to go XTR even though the shifting seemed to be better and the new set up is supposed to be stiffer. I went with these due to the lightweight, cost, and looks versus Race Face or XTR. They're still the stiffest crank I have owned with RF Ti ISIS BB. The carbon wears much better then the paint on the new XTR cranks. Still looking good after year of riding. I sometimes think about if I should have bought the XTR cranks and do like Shimano's design but this set up has been excellent.

I love'em so far I ride about 80 miles a week and I have had no porblem with them. I have noticed that I have more power to the crank now. They seem lighter to spin and I dont feel I have spent all that time pedaling to not even go very far. These cranks do look brittle but I know people that ride them twice as hard as me and they swear by them. As far as the customer service issue that everyone has, we'll have to wait and see. All and all a great product,Oh yeah and the Chicks seem to dig the looks to. Im giving them a value rating of 5 because I got them off of a bike I purchased complete from a friend.

The FSA Carbon Pro Crankset and FSA Ulitmax TI bottom bracket ISIS did not fit. Quality control issue. Warranty covered the issue, however dealing with 2 different people "Tom" and "Mike" over the last year was enough for me not to ever buy a FSA product again. They were unprofessional, rude, just real jerks about the problem. They played dumb to the whole issue, which several bike shops were well aware of the quality control problem.
Like the product once I got it working, would never give business to FSA again based on the attitude received from 2 different people.

Poor quality control. I had to install and unintsall the drive side arm multiple times to get the ISIS interface to wear in so it would seat properly. The one key release bolt stripped out the threads on the crank. Luckily enough threads remained to use a Park crank puller. At least the company warrantied it. They also chastised me for using the one key release bolts in the 1st place. I countered by asking why they supply them with the crank if they weren't meant to be used. I've had no such problems with Truvativ's products.

What's all this fuss about FSA's customer service??? Sure it sucks when something fails, but it's awesome when manufacturers step up to the plate & take care of their customers! These cranks had 2 years or so of hard use, the insert started to come loose; I called FSA, they said no problem--send 'em in. I did & in two days I had a new set on my doorstep! I'll continue to use their products & recommend them to my friends.

This is a very durable and dependable product. I would agree the the shifting is not quite up to par with XT, but very close. I've ridden this crank for two summers in the knarlest stuff the Northwest has to offer, and a week in Moab. This is the stiffest XC crank made. Its smashed into countless rocks without a problem. I would also say that the FSA chain rings are more durable than XT. If you are looking for a crank that is both light and strong, this is it.

These ARE the greatest cranks ever made! From the first pedal stroke, "This is what my bike was missing." The power transfer is incredible especially at the end of a long ride or race, when every ounce of your depleting energy is needed to go forward. These cranks helps you maximize all of your energy. They felt stiffer than Shimano's XTR octalink which is a really stiff crank set, you will notice the difference between the two. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Had a minor issue with the Ultimax Ti BB, there was slight play at the cranks with the BB BUT the FSA staff took care of it. No problem. This is truly a great product! Now if they could just make it lighter...

I love these cranks! I consider myself an aggressive rider and I haven't experienced any of the problems listed in other reviews. Hopefully, I didn't just jinx myself by saying that. They feel like they transfer power well, shift well, and still look great even with a few scratches and scrapes from the occasional rock. I built this bike with two goals in mind: (1)Use lots of carbon. (2)Use NO Shimano (I guess it's an anti-establishment thing. Sadly, I had to use an XT front der, as the Sram didn't fit my frame. But that's all!). These cranks fit both goals nicely.

I have these cranks on all three of my bikes. Most of these reviews complain about durability, I beg to differ. I have slammed many a rock here in the northeast without any problems. And most of these reviews say thay gave out after only 3 or 4 months, i find that hard to believe. I have had these cranks on all my bikes for way longer than most of these reviewers, since they first cameout, without any problems. The problem is not the cranks!!!!!!!!
FYI If you are having shifting problems with the stock chain rings swap them out for XT chain rings, the problem will go away, my bikes shift flawlessly now.

These things are made overseas. They do not shift well and are not tough at all. Despite being coupled with an expensive Ti bottom bracket, I was able to get some creaking within 4 months of usage (not including ANY races or super hard riding). Customer service is horrible. These people could care less- they don't keep their word. An XC racer would be 10 times better off buying Race Face or XTR stuff; you would get better shifting, better lifetime, and you would sure as hell get more support from the company. None of these problems listed have to do with riding style, taking care of the bike etc- I take my bike apart (pedals, cranks, F/R derail., tires, hub) every couple of rides. I thought FSA was a quality product when I finally decided to purchase the cranks and rings. I should have done more research.

This post is in response to my earlier post below. I finally have given up on FSA and told them to keep the crank because I've been using the XT for nearly 4 months and have had no problems. Heck the XT is almost a third of the cost and is less than 1/2 ounce heavier plus if I have a problem with it I can get a replacement today and not next year. If you own an FSA take care of it because you are not going to get it fixed anytime soon!

They do look great, and they are very light. But on my VERY FIRST RIDE, I hit a rock and broke 4 teeth clean off. I rode my XT crank for 3 years and hit other rocks just as hard, and only scratched and slightly ground down a few teeth. Never did any break completely off. Fortunately, new big rings are reasonably priced, and Customer Service gave me a bit of a deal on them. They said it must have been a fluke, that it probably would have destroyed the old XT set, but I'm not sure. The crankset is also noisy when the chain slaps around on it ... mostly when in the middle ring. Perhaps both of these problems are inherent with the metal used on the rings. They shift okay .... sometimes dropping off the small ring, when downshifting great amounts, even though the frt der'r is set up right. If you want light weight and good looks, they are great. If you want great shifting and durability, they are not.

I got my Pro Carbon crack set in February to make sure I'd have it for the spring. It was beautiful, a work of art, I almost hated to put it on the bike because I didn't wan to mar the finish in any way. But when I mounted it I noticed the Spider had one bent arm. I took it back to the shop and sure enough, they agreed and sent it back to FSA under warranty. Well that was three months ago and after many calls to FSA I am still without the crank. I'd love to be able to rate these cranks on their performance but I can't since I never actually got to use them. Instead I am rating FSA's customer service- or lack thereof. I'll still mark them in the middle to give them the benfit of the doubt but Lord help you if you need customer service. I hope somebody at FSA reads this because I am not a strong supporter of their company at the moment and I really think they could care less.

I built the lightest freeride oriented cross-country bike I could. The result was a six inch travel bike that weighted 28 pounds with disc brakes and a 5 inch travel fork. Everyone told me that the FSA carbon cranks wouldn't hold up to this type of riding. Nine months into the project and they are all wrong.
I ridden this bike through the toughest terrain the Northwest has to offer. I've smacked the crank arms on more than a few boulders with no adverse impact. My only complaint is weak shifting from the small to the middle chainring. I'm running a 20 tooth small, but I don't believe that's the problem. The shifting is not terrible it's just not automatic like Shimano.
Bottom line: I'd buy this crank again.

This crankset did just what I wanted: kept my total weight under 22 lbs, without sacrificing shifting performance. The good looks don't hurt, either. The box at the top of this page says 556 grams, but the actual weight is more like 565 or 575, PLUS the crankbolts, which are about 38 grams and are included in the set. FSA was quick to repsond to an e-mail inquiry about the product after I had it and was preparing to install. At the price paid, it compares favorably to other popular cranksets, but at a significant weight savings.

The original version of these carbon fiber wrapped aluminum cranks came on my bike a couple of years ago. I ride agressively, but I'm only 155 pounds and ride cross country in flat old Ontario. I just broke my third crank arm. The one time the aluminum insert busted right out of the carbon shell and my foot, still in pedal, hit the ground. For a 440 gram crank (according to my butcher's gram scale) that aint such a great performance record. In all fairness, I suppose it's possible the new style ones are better.

WOW! This crankset is the bomb! Absolutely no flex whatsoever, and they are EXTREMELY light!!! The shifting is absolutely flawless, and I am surprised at how well it has held up under all the abuse I've given it over the past 3 months! I've hit dozens of rocks that have completely chewed up my pedals, but my crankset seems to be bulletproof and immune to the rocks/logs and other rigors I put it through on a daily basis. I don't think a stronger or better crankset exists on this earth! If you're looking for a way to lighten up your bike while increasing strength, then may I suggest buying what is probably the LIGHTEST crankset in the world. The FSA carbon Pro Cranks are definitely the best upgrade I've ever made to my bike!

I'm stoked to be able to lose some weight on the bike, and gain stiffness in a part where it's needed. I just had these put on, and noticed already the difference in stiffness. I can't wait to test these in the coming months of riding.

I don't know if God has broken his yet but I haven't made a dent in mine. I've used(abused) them for a while, now and I can only praise them. I'm 6'-200+lbs and ride and race hard. My riding style is best described as brutal. I mash rather than spin. Basically, I've beaten the piss out of these things and they've laughed at me. I've ended up with bent forks, a tacoed wheel, nerve damage in my shoulder, and a broken collarbone. They've ended up with some scratches and sneering "is that the best you got, boy?" This is no poser crap like a lot of carbon stuff out there. These are the real deal

These are the cranks God uses. Scary stiff and absolutely gorgeous. The closest thing I could come to complainig about is that they are too beautifull. They make you want to cry after the first scratch.

These cranks are great. I have only had them for 3 months, so I can't say anything about long term durability, but so far: no problemo! I have ridden approx. 800 miles so far. They are really stiff and light and not so sensitive as I feared w. regards to crashes, scratches, etc. I have had no problems with them whatsoever and they shift just as good as my XT's did 8maybe even better). I don't think that anyone who buys them will be disappointed, and the price is OK too. They will release a splined version soon I think, so for those of you with XTR BB it might be a good idea to wait if you are considering these cranks.
installation was a sinch and no creaking or anything. Just put them on and go.

These Crankset are awesome. I have been testing FSA's new Carbon Fiber Crankset for 3 months now and they are killer. Incredibly stiff, light and cool looking. I was concerned that the carbon would get damaged by regular off-road riding, but mine are still fine after lots of rocks, stumps, etc. They've gotten a few cosmetic blemishes (mainly from rocks), but nothing more than aluminum Crankset. My set came with a standard 110/74 spider and weighs 434 grams. Lifetime Warranty too.
