Favorite Trail:Brechfa / Whites / Millers / Kilvey
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $180.00
Purchased At:Merlin cycles
Strengths:Light, adjustable rebound, selectable propedal
Weaknesses:Air valve is hard to access, as it's partially obscured by the linkage.
Bike Setup:A big, bouncy bike, with wheels and that...
Bottom Line:This shock has completely transformed my bike, climbing is now much easier with the propedal switched on.
Going downhill I haven't noticed any difference between the RP2 and my old coil shock.
If you don't notice anything, then the suspension is doing its job.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Ken Self
Strengths:function
Weaknesses:-
Similar Products Used:fox float R
Bike Setup:Trek Fuel
Bottom Line:This shock is great. It does everything it is supposed to do. With the propedal switched on it really feels like my hardtail until I come to a bump, then the shock soaks it up. It has taken me a while to get the pressure settings right but now my bike rides like a hardtail when I want it to and then flick the switch and turn rough into smooth. Some reviewers here have complained about the shock being either too hard, too soft or the propedal not making a difference. I am sure that they just need to adjust the pressure for their weight and riding style. As for the sticking down, I hope that never happens to me, it sounds like a real drag. Probably just a buggered seal though.

Favorite Trail:Sullivan Canyon
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1500.00
Purchased At:Jenson USA
Strengths:Not sure
Weaknesses:None of the adjustments make a difference. I have my pressure set at 170 (my body weight), but when I switch the lock-out lever, nothing happens. Same with red dial. It stays at the same level no matter how much I tweak it.
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher HiFi Plus
Bottom Line:It works okay, but I'd like to lock it out on uphill climbs. Is there something I don't know about this product?

Date Reviewed: September 18, 2008
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Pro pedal is great. Super light weight shock, SMOOTH and PLUSH.
Rebound adjust works flawlessly.
Weaknesses:None that I can see.
Similar Products Used:X-fusion shock for specialized
Bike Setup:Specialized Pitch Comp.
Bottom Line:I upgraded the factory x-fusion for this shock, the one that comes standard on the PItch Pro. It is much lighter than the one that came on the bike, and also has the pro-pedal, which really stiffens the ride, yet still absorbs bigger hits.
When you want the soft plush ride, flip off propedal...

A great shock.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:X-treme-bike Bonte B
Strengths:Fox Float RP2: really bad experiences
http://www.hazesbikers.be
Weaknesses:Bought the GT i-drive 4 1.0 one month ago and already up to my THIRD Fox Float RP2 !! Can you imagine how worhtless this product is? TWO went stuck-down already after a few days riding. Meaning: well, ride a hardtail. The second time it happened, I was on bike holiday in ZugSpits Area, Austria. That really sucked. The rest of the week I rented a Specialised Stump Jumper.
Pictures on: http://www.hazesbikers.be
Bike Setup:GT i-drive 4 1.0
Bottom Line:After 2 stuck-down Fox Float RP2 , this really sucks for me. I hope my dealer Xtreme-biking in Brugge (Belgium) can settle with Fox for a good arrangement.

johan

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:came with Teocali Elite
Strengths:Light, Very smooth, smaller drops and logs are great, rebound adjust IS noticeable. This Thing loves to climb, Flip on the Propedal and head up a hill like a hardtail, once you hit the top just flip the switch again and it's ready for the ugly stuff.
Weaknesses:nothing so far, Will repost if something goes down...
Bike Setup:Teocali Elite (stock)
Bottom Line:Buy this if you want a stiff propedal setting for the climbs or maybe fireroads, with it flipped on, my bike pedals and rides like a hardtail. Don't buy this if your looking for endless travel, This is meant for more All-mountain and XC. Overall, I am Very happy my bike came with this, works great and can take abuse!!!

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $187.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:range of rebound/compression settings
Weaknesses:none so far
Similar Products Used:older fox rear shocks (honestly i forget the models)
Bike Setup:gt i drive, xt everything
Bottom Line:pretty good shock, i havent used like 100 shocks in my time so im no expert but i can def say that i like this one. i usually only ride XC so keep that in mind. the rebound settings are great and it can suck up some decent drops nicely. really good feeling of gripping the trail and eats up roots like nothing. my bike def climbs better than it used to. i feel like i get a lot more power from this shock than other ones ive used cause im not losing it to the compression-it's all going straight to the crankset now. highly recommended, try to snag one on ebay for the cheap. i wouldnt have bought this shock for 300 bucks though.

Strengths:Pro Pedal setting
Weaknesses:not much, compression damping
Similar Products Used:rp23, 04 AVA
Bike Setup:Commencal 5.5.1. 140mm/140mm
Bottom Line:I think the Pro Pedal setting is perfect. Whent the Pro Pedal is switch off it still has to much compression damping. but it is marginal

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $250.00
Purchased At:E-bay
Strengths:really sticks to the ground, and the rocks and bumps are hardly felt
Weaknesses:expensive!!
Similar Products Used:RockShox bar 2.1
Bottom Line:very good shock, a bit expensive.
the 2 pro pedal modes are great, the soft one sticks to the ground really good and absorbs great.
the second pro pedal mode is a bit stiff which makes it great for fast sprints when you want to show off that you ride fast.

Date Reviewed: November 2, 2006
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:warranty item
Strengths:Tracks very well at no Propedal state
Weaknesses:The medum pre set Propedal is a way too harsh. There is no way to adjust the Propedal Threshold on the RP2 (OEM only)
Similar Products Used:Manitou Swinger 3, 5th element
Bike Setup:Merida AM 2007 130mm rear travel, Fox Vanilla, Hyd disk brakes, Geax Sturdy tiers
Bottom Line:Good shock as long as you don't apply the Propedal (medium preset). When you apply the Propedal the ride becomes too harsh and the traction and comfort suffer. Good for Hardtail lovers. Fox jumped from too soft setup on the RP3 to a too harsh on the RP2.
