Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Looks neat, adjustments work well, plush feel.
Weaknesses:Lacks the bottom out adjustment which i would find useful as i like to have a more progressive stroke, though this can be overcome with more air in the boost valve which affects the progressiveness, and compensating the effect of this by lowering the pro-pedal setting. Rebound adjuster knob is a little small and fiddly
Similar Products Used:Van R, vanilla RC, DHX 5.0 (carpark test only), fox vanilla, 5th element (carpark test only)
Bike Setup:Patriot 66, domains, sram, hayes etc
Bottom Line:Feels plush with great small bump sensitivity on my patriot but for those who prefer more of a platform, the propedal or boost valve settings can be upped. Smooth action too, no stiction and i've experienced no spikes. the rebound adjuster is fine but its very thin so i find it a little fiddly, but how often do you need to adjust it? the only better thing to this is the DHX 5.0. It's OEM so please ignore value rating)

Date Reviewed: July 14, 2007
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:looks good on my bike, havnt bottomed it out yet its taken a good 10 foot drop and didnt even come close to it, propedal and rebound adjustment
Weaknesses:could use a better spring but for me it works, and it doesnt fit on a lot of peoples bikes because i tried to sell it once and everyone said it was too big but i got my giant ac and it fit so i took it off the market
Similar Products Used:manitou 4 way swinger
Bike Setup:giant ac, white bros. dh2 fork, fox dhx 4.0 rear shock, 24 in. halo combat rim rear, 26 in mavic 321 disc front with 3.0 tires and hayes hydraulics
Bottom Line:nice shock, works great, plush, good travel. good buy, anything made by fox is good is my opinion, but i want to try the dhx 5.0 but i will when i get a new bike

Favorite Trail:anywhere
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Has both compression damping (ProPedal) and rebound damping adjustments, plus preload with the air adjustment. Easy to tune for climbing vs. serious DH. Very plush when setup for DH. ProPedal is very functional and worth it.
Weaknesses:Possibly weight, but I've grown bigger muscles to compensate for that now. :)
Similar Products Used:Fox Float
Bike Setup:'06 Devinci Ollie: DHX 4.0 rear shock, tubeless setup on Mavic XM819s, Hadley hubs, 888RC2 fork.
Bottom Line:This shock shines. Very linear damping quality with just the right amount of adjustment. I'm very impressed, but would you expect any less from a Fox product?
