$300.00 | | Purchased At: | Second Hand | | Strengths: | The frame and fork combo are pretty well bang on. Both Cro-Moly so very strong, as are the cranks. The 24" size is great for me as I am 6' and for someone this size who wants to focus on jumping 24" is better than 20" or 26" for that matter. The single rear brake is fine for jumping, however for street front and rear brakes would be better. The pedals are also very grippy. | | Weaknesses: | The bike came set up with DMR cro-moly wing bars, meaning that the standard bars are possibly a weakness. Due to their low rise, the stem has had to be flipped upside down. We also fitted a 4" suspension fork to the bike, however this upset the angles and ended up cracking the lower headset cup. If you wish to perform this mod a 3" fork would be better, however the standard headset is quite weak from the beginning. The rear hub has also had to be rebuilt, due to lack of strength. I also believe that the standard bottom bracket has been replaced with a sealed item. | | Similar Products Used: | I have come from a DH and XC background so previous bikes include: 02 Specialized Hardrock A1FS, 03 Specialized Bighit Comp, 03 Specialized Epic Disc | | Bike Setup: | ODI Lock-On grips, DMR Cro-Moly Wing Bars, Chris King Tank Jump Headset, Sealed Bottom Bracket, DMR Dirt Saddle, DMR Moto RT tires (kevlar bead). | | Bottom Line: | A great bike if you have a big frame and want to step up to something bigger than a BMX or step down from something as big as a MTB. With a quick upgrade in the front end of the bike, I was able to jump right on and race it like I have owned it for 10 years. Manuals easy, jumps great, and quick out of the gate.
