Bottom Line:
I decided to give this grips a go since my original grips were done. I though they would be much more comfortable and since Ergon is a very well known and respected brand I though I couldn’t go wrong. Well I did…. I have been riding for 3 days in a row with them, they are, uncomfortable! I’ve tried several positions and to o avail by the end of the day my wrist, fingers and forearms feel sore as never before.
I cant explain why…the feel and look comfortable, but for me they simply hurt.
I already ordered a pair of Ergon GA1 and I’ll switch the horns to them, the GC2 are simply not for my precious hands.

Excellent hand support, comfortable, no more sore hands after rides
The hand support and position they put your hand in is excellent, the bar ends are adjustable and are just long enough. They don't stick out that far, just a tad bit farther than my hands do on the bars. Gives you more hand positions while riding.
One other benefit I did not hear anyone mention which I noticed immediately is that they give your hands some protection from the side when riding, they almost give you the feeling they are holding your hands in the bars they way they curve in.
I ordered these based on others reviews as I could not find these in town at my LBS. Glad I made the purchase.

So far every time i've been out with these my hands feel fine. After each ride there is no tingling in my hands. they make a nice platform for your hands especially going downhill. I have the ones with the little bar ends and I think they are just too small. Other than that I'd definitely recommend.

the wider palm area really does improve comfort. can steer bike just by applying palm pressure.
Weaknesses:
fiddly to set up. odd bar ends.
Bottom Line:
Earlier this year I developed trigger finger, which made holding grips very painful. These grips with the wider grip area, and the fact that on easier sections the bike can be steered with just palm pressure, kept me riding when ordinary grips were killing my hands.
the bonus I have discovered is that I almost never get wrist ache nor tingling fingers on long rides.
setting up is a bit tricky - It took me several rides to get the bar grip in just the right place - the instructions do explain how to set them up - it's important to ensure that your wrist is held at the correct angle (i.e. neutral) when gripping the bar. The grip prevents your hand from sliding around the bar when you get tired, which helps carpal tunnel problems (it's also useful if you've got trigger finger too)
the stubby bar ends aren't really that useful. the best way ti use them is by hooking your thumbs around them and wrapping your fingers under the bar grip - it's more about being able to change grip to help relieve fatigue than it is about getting leverage on hills.
only 3 chilli's for value as they ain't cheap, but 4 overall coz they really do work.

I can't believe how much more comfortable they are. They also give me more control over the bike. I am glued to the bars without having to grip hard. I got the womens size since I read many people saying they are sized big and you should try the womens first. It was good advice, I'm almost 6 ft. and 240 lbs and these fit me well. They make a big difference in the whole ride. The bar ends are great too.

I love new or innovative ideas, specially when it comes to anything with regards to cycling. These great looking grips definately caught my attention, not least because I also, like many of the possitive reviewers reviews also battle with blood circulation problems to my hands. Long story short, these grips are a nightmare. After many setting changes, the grips offered no or less relief than before. When cycling in the standing position, up a hill for e.g. I feel there is a serious risk of rist injury. In the end I was in total agony with rist pain. After two weeks of trying them out I was gratefully refunded. Bottom line, if your over 65 and don't ever go into a standind position when cycling, these might just be the ones for you.

While these grips look cool, the bar ends are functionally worthless since they are not big enough to get a comfortable grip on. I ride a BikeFriday with 20" wheels. I will take suspension, wherever I can get it. I believe that these grips, when set up properly, are a great suspension device for all the low level road stuff that you will encounter. It's like the meat of your hand is sitting in a mini, mini trampolene. The effect is sublte, but extremely effective. But they really have to be set up at the perfect angle. Play around with them until you get it right, and you will feel what I am feeling. The thing that I don't get is the bar ends. The don's seem big enough, ot the right shape to be usefull. It seems like more of a gaurd so that you hands don't siift outward too far. I think that I will replace them with the ones without the bar end, but the extended flexable lip on the back of this thing will change you riding experience to the same degree that padded insert shorts did. It's a bit of heaven for not a lot of cash!

The added surface are on the palm definitely is comfortable. However, an soon as you get in a technical center with you thumb wrapped around the grip, couple fingers on the brake, and the remaining 3 not able to fully grip it is easy to loose control. By the and of my ride I thought my thumbs were going to fall off. Tried them 3 or 4 more times and continue to have the same issue. As long as your riding flat stuff they may be good for you, don't know how anyone who runs a technical downhill section with these can survive . . .

Bottom Line:
The grips are the real deal. After experiencing considerable pain in my wrists after long downhill descents, numerous crashes landing with my wrists extended, and 12 hours a day of typing on a computer, I was reaching a point to where I could no longer ride. The pain was unbearable.
I ordered these grips after an older friend with severe arthritis praised them and I couldn't be happier. The extra support that the grip provides is wonderful, but more importantly, by shifting the grips forward a little raising the palm section a little, you create an ergonomically correct trajectory of your forearms, wrists, and hands. This is the big advantage of these grips.
With normal grips, I would start out with the correct angle of my forearm and wrist but as I got tired or fatigued, I would let my wrists sag creating a "V" or dip between my forearm and hands. This contributed greatly to my pain. With these grips, I have them rotated far enough forward that the palm section forces my wrist up and creats a straight line from forearm on down to my hands.
I was concerned when I ordered these that they would reduce the strength of my grip on the handlebars, but they actually improve my grip drastically. With normal round handle grips you lose a lot of your grip especially from your middle finger down to your pinky as there is no opposable finger other than your thumb which provides pressure on at the start of your grip. With the Ergon grips, the palm of your hand becomes an opposable thumb per say for the outside of your grips and really improves grip hold and control of the handlebars.
The MR1 grips also include small adjustable bars at the end which create a comfortable area to rest the outside of your grip against without fear of losing your grip off of the bar. I have found this reall beneficial when I really need to manipulate the bars up and over and around obstacles which previously would have necessitated tightening my grip but now I can use the outside bars to get leverage.
I couldn't be happier with this product and after a few months of riding, the pain in my wrists has disappeared and the control I've gained has been considerable. A great product that will improve anyone's mountain biking experience.
