oh my zectec pro cost around SIN$2500.it was a gd buy considering wat kinda of compomnent it came with ... it had a full 98 shimmano xt drivetrain the most reliable in the range .....xtr is for competition ..use and throw ..... i have mavics 221 X with ub control ...best part of it all...
i got a rock shox sid susupension 98 edtion as well ...
together the bike onli weighs 10.5 kilos ....that's light!!!for a 16 inch frame bike ......i will say its race ready ...though the frame is weddled is taiwan ..the weldsare nicely and evenly done...si sign of gd workmanship ...i suppose the zectec pro is the highest end for hartail from DBR after the team edtion which is wedded in the usa....
last thing i wanna tell u guys ....if u weghover 200 pounds ....dun use this bike ...u will kill it ..so the main tubes are from Easton ..the elite program ones.....no onder the bike is light ...but with a compromise of weight .....
Weaknesses:
i love my bike though i can't be used for stunts ..
i dun wan to crak my Easton Elite Program tubes
Similar Products Used:
my first bike was a taiwan one..from tahara anmd its weight is a main problem ......at 14.5 kilos i find the zectec pro a breeze to accelerate and climb.......engery efficent i would say ..
especially for a small guy like mi who dun have too much engery to burn ....
Bike Setup:
a yellow frane set
contrasted with a blue 98 rock shox sid
full 98shimano xt drive train ...
titec seat post and handle bars wtb sst sst saddle and tires ..veloci raptors front and rear specfic...mavi x221 rims with ub control ...
xc race ready for the hardcore....
Bottom Line:race-ready machine hell gd ......for xc ...no stunts

Submitted by John Newell a cross-country rider from Des Moines, Iowa
Date Reviewed: October 24, 1996
Bottom Line:

I have ridden and raced this bike all season. It came with an excellent spec list of equipment including full XT exept for AC hubs and crank. For those who want Rapid Fire, it is standard (my personal preference is rapid fire after having used Grip Shift.).The handling and feel of the bike is much better than the other major brand aluminum bike I rode previously. The rider box on my 20 model is perfect for my 6'2+ body with long arms and legs. I did not have to switch stems or anything. The only thing I would change after owning this bike is to spec a different seat. It came with a San Marco rail-less design. When matched to the adjustable Avenir Race Post it rocks back and forth quite a bit. In fact, the clamping bolt broke once (it was aluminum and the entire post was replaced under warranty and came with a steel bolt.)You could not ask for a better out of the box race ready machine. I will look to Diamondback when I'm ready to buy again.
