Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $225.00
Purchased At:Dick's Sporting Good
Strengths:Wonderful balance, smoothe riding, soft on the butt, very fast, good in the woods, on roads, in dirt, in mud, deep puddles of water:) shifts easily, powerful brakes.
Weaknesses:when it ages, if you go through stones, or sand, ect... the petals seem to creak.
Bottom Line:THE BEST BIKE THAT ANYONE COULD EVER HAVE! I LOVE IT??????!

Date Reviewed: April 17, 2000
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Nice price ;)
Comfortable and cruisy as all hell - feels like a bloody ergonomic chair!
Sturdy and beefy but nice and light.
A very easy ride, on-road or off.
Weaknesses:Hmm... I'm not too keen on the pro-max brakes, they don't engender the sort of confidence in me that you want... I'm undecided about the grip shifters - they're great for fast changes, skipping four gears at a time or whatever, but they seem a little out of calibration already (like, one day after a complete service.) and they take a bit of getting used to... I'll get back to y'all on that one...
Bike Setup:Stock baby - which in Australia means Shimano Alivio fronts, STX rears, pro-max brakes, SRAM MRX 200-30 gripshifters and a bloody fantastic Avenir comfortplus II seat (my arse is singing with joy!)
Bottom Line:Jump on one of these and you'll notice straight away that the feel is unlike other mtb's... Your back is kept straight and relaxed, and your legs are aligned differently to what you'd expect - but take it out for a bit and you'll understand why - it's such a cruisy bike...

I'm using it mainly on-road at the moment, but just busting to take it out and thrash it around a bit more... I'm coming straight off a dual-suspended bike worth over a grand, and enjoying this fella heaps more. It just seems to take all the work out of riding - climbs so easy, balances so well - you're expecting it to choose a route for you.

I will admit it feels almost like a ladies' cruiser to ride at first, and the upturned handlebars make it look ever-so-slightly poofy, but I love the look of the bike as a whole (mmmmm... curvyyy...) and the comfort factor is up there near luxury - in fact, I might have to start beating my arse with wooden planks to keep it tough for my other bike.

I'm pretty impressed. Seems like a quality job for a great price (and bikes are generally very expensive in Australia as compared to OS) - but if I have any of the gearing or brake problems other blokes have been talking about on this board, I might just change my tune.

Right now though, I'm rapt with it!

Bottom Line:
This is a great bike for street riding (smooth centered tires work good on pavement) and light off road use is also very good. The only thing bad about this bike is the SRAM 5.0 derailleur/shifter. They say the rear derailleur is composite, but I'd call it plastic. It broke in half 45 minutes into my first ride and destroyed my rear wheel. The dealer upgraded me to the SRAM 7.0 for $30. It works much smoother than the 5.0 - hopefully it lasts a long longer too.
