$400.00 | | Purchased At: | ebay | | Strengths: | The frame is bombproof. Components are top notch. Fairly light weight and the color is beautiful in the sun. | | Weaknesses: | Could have used some lighter components for the same cost and had a really light performance bike. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized rockhopper, Trek 820 | | Bike Setup: | The coponents listed above are wrong. It comes with Manitou SX-E fork, XT, LX derailluers koski lite brakes and levers, deore shifters, suspension seat post and truvativ firex cranks. | | Bottom Line: | Very nice bike for the money. The frame is built very strong. The seat stays are similar to the older Schwinn epicenter. They are also snaked out to allow wider tires without rubbing. The components are very nice, not much need for upgrading. You see alot of bikes selling for much more with these components and frame combos. Oh yeah the WTB Motorapter tires will get you thru most anything. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$605.00 | | Strengths: | Excellent shocks, lightwieght, love the suspension seatpost. | | Weaknesses: | Snapped two chains right off the bat, no problems since. | | Similar Products Used: | Comprable models of Specialized, GT, Giant, Jamis (5-800$ range). | | Bike Setup: | Stock- the description by "mtbr" isn't accurate though. Since i can't remember all the XT vs SE stuff, I advise you to go to diamondback.com and take a look there. It's all great stuff. | | Bottom Line: | The bike as solid all around, and has stood up very well to a daily beating administered by me on the technical trails of FT. Ebey State Park, Whidbey Island, WA. Quality parts all around, fast, solid. I'd recommend this bike to intermediate and advanced riders. I'm very happy with the purchase, and it came only after extensive research and bike testing. For the money and quality, the Apex came out on top. I paid $605, but that was through a military deal, so you may have to spend a bit more. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
