this is a great bike for the price. other dealers asked as much as $500-600 for bikes with parts that were not as good as what are on this one. it is also a great bike to learn how to mountain bike. i love this bike.

Cool looking frame, a fresh take on the old school Schwinn cruiser look. Built sturdy, but light aluminum. 24 speed Shimano components.
Weaknesses:
The knobs on the tires are low and these guys slip in loose soil. The second water bottle location on small bikes is on the underside of the bike, gets filthy down there.

Bottom Line:
I got a 98 and this is the one you want. Why? because it is packed with quality Drivetrain parts not found on the 99. Shimano STX RC Hubs, deraileurs, shifters and cranks. The Manitou shock on the 98 is beefier than the 99 rockshok jett. The WTB seat is mysteriously comfortable for a hard seat. The tektro brakes are a breeze to set up and they stop on a dime, a shekel, a rupee....The 24 speed shimano shifter snaps into gears crisply. You can tell the chain and sprockets are quality units by how smooth and silent they are when you pedal. I got one size smaller than I usually ride, then Got a longer seat post and higher and longer stem so I could hop and jump with agility like a bmx bike. This is a distinctive bike chock full of quality components. Grab one before it's discontinued and you'll have a great bike worth keeping a long time. Throw on some cheap slicks and do 50 miles on the road in a jiffy. By the way, don't fall for a cheaper 9 speed bike, those 9 speeds are FINICKY. 8 speeds have wider chains and they work well dry, wet, new, used, clean or dirty. Get the 98 on sale and smile cuz you scored!

Mine is a black '98 model. You either like the looks or hate them, I like them myself. I paid around $600 for mine in 5/98. Even at that price it was a good deal. I started riding mine mainly around town and on paved and gravel bike trails. Ended up using it as a mountain bike on some reasonably rough trails. It's got over 2500miles on it and a few crashes and it still rides nice. It's a comfortable bulletproof bike that is worth a look if you're going to ride on and off road and for bike trails. If you're going to ride off road exclusively you might look somewhere else, but for a combo bike this one rocks. Try one...

I got it as a bargin for $350. It has a decently stiff aluminum frame. Bulletproof components.
Weaknesses:
Bulletproof components are very HEAVY. Frame flex in rear (curable with a brake booster). The stock tires don't bite...they flat out suck(WTB Primalraptors). The bike is getting heavy for my growing skills and addiction

Bottom Line:
I abused this bike. I am about 6' tall and 200 lbs and I tend to brake things but this bike didn't give. I have ridden it places and kept up with Cannondales and Kleins that cost thousands more. The only real drawback is it's weight. The frame looks cool and usually gets attention on the trail. I am building a new bike and I will still ride this one from time to time cause it has really grown on me. I recomend the bike for anyone getting into the sport. You really can't beat it for the price. I give it 5 fired up chilis

Bottom Line:
I was looking for a relatively inexpensive yet good mtn bike (aren't most of us?) I looked at a Trek 6000 and this was in the $510 range. The list on the Voyager III was about $730.00 and I'd seen it selling for in the $500-$600 range, so when I saw it on sale and compared the components it looked like a good deal. I've been on moderate offroad trails and am happy, except that I don't like the tires or the seat. The tires may be good (I'm not an expert) but they have very sparse tread and seem to slip easily. You will need to replace the seat or get a new one of your own. ;) I wouldn't buy this bike at the list price, but on sale it was a deal.

This bike is a very stylish head-turner. Very good components and an exceptional ride. Probably not suitable for hard-core riders, but fantastic for a starter mountain bike.This bike is ideal for the single and double-tracks, as well as the canal towpaths and rail-trails we have here in this region.
