Favorite Trail:Ramapo Mnt, Skyline
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:North Division
Strengths:At the time I bought this bike, It was the best value in full suspension bikes. Good over all spec list. Good 4 bar linkage suspension system. Adjustable 4-5 inch travel with secret 5.25 ability (see "Bike Setup"). Climbs alright, anit no hard tail but does a hard tail ride like this bike does, I DON'T THINK SO. Comes with a nice set of wheels. Front fork is pritty nice.
Weaknesses:THE BRAKES! Well, yeah they are awful, get rid of them right away... and save your self from some serious injury (you kinda need to stop). I broke the derailer hanger, but that was off a 5-6 foot drop, so I guess thats respectable. A new hanger was only 20 bucks, so it was not that bad, but my chain, spokes and my cable were messed up too, but thats what happends. I swaped the tires because they were just not hooking up.

Bike Setup:I got rid of those death warrent brakes right away, after relizing that they suck, and got some avid's mechanical, now I can stop. Got bigger hander bars, width and rise... person fit, nothing wrong with the stock ones, in fact I put them on another bike of mine. Ok, to get 5.25 out of the stock shock with no extra required parts, here is what you do. FLIP THE LINK, thats it. You know where you can adjust the setting from 4 to 5 that link gets flipped, then there is only one location left for you to mount the shock... well you can try the other spot but it won't fit. Got some great gripping Panaracer Fire XC on now, world of difference.
Bottom Line:Good bike for the money... Just don't count on the brakes, cause they just won't do. If you are a Free rider who cares about weight and are not going to go to North Shore right away, who still needs to ride his/her bike to the top of the mountain, then this bike could be the bike for you. It will do 5 to 6 foot drops ( I can prove this to you). And it will climb it's way up. Did I say that the frame is really nice and would be worth up-grading... hum... may have to put a Manitou BLACK fork on some day... :)
