Date Reviewed: September 4, 2004
Favorite Trail:Anything that I can find near my house in Korea
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:AAFES Sports Store
Strengths:For the price you can't beat this bike, it has everything that bikes costing around $800 dollars have. I have not yet made it to a trail with this bike yet, but on the street I have hit some 4 and 5 foot drops and it took it great. The Judy shock works great for small bumps and the bike shifts very smoothly. If you were to throw on some Maxis Hookworms or other street tires this bike would be a great urban assualt MTB, it bunny hops pretty high very easily and for a MTB you can do a pretty controllable manual.
Weaknesses:Brakes seem really weak for me ( but I am a 195 lbs rider, so that probally has something to do with it ). Pedals cages started to fall off, I removed the reflectors and took out the 4 phillips head screws on each pedal and put a little lock tight on each screws threads and no more problems. Will be upgrading to some good platform pedals anyways. Judy shock bottoms out pretty easily for me but I am a pretty big guy so it is to be expected.
Similar Products Used:I haven't riden a hardtail MTB since I was in Highschool, been more into dirtjumping bmx bikes for the past 3 years.
Bike Setup:Stock for now, soon to upgrade pedals, shock, disc brakes and stem.
Bottom Line:The bottom line is that this bike does everything that it was designed to do and more with no problems whatsoever. Very upgradeable frame. Good price for a great bike. If you are looking for a bike to hit some 10 foot drops this ain't it ( not to say that it can't handle it but a full suspension bike with around 5" or more of travel would be a better option for you ), but if you are looking for a bike that can ride the trails and the street equally well then this is the right bike for you. Buy this bike, you won't regret it.

Favorite Trail:Apex
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:Big Kahuna
Strengths:Very maneuverable, great components for the price
Weaknesses:no clipless pedals, but added them
Bike Setup:stock except for pedals
Bottom Line:GREAT GREAT bike, especially for the price. Don't want a full suspension, and this bike rides and climbs great. If you enjoy riding and want a hardtail that does the job, and won't break your wallet, this is it!! We just did a long weekend in Moab and it held up the entire time. Took a couple good falls and the bike kept riding great.
