Date Reviewed: June 23, 2003
Favorite Trail:Whatever's under my wheels
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $550.00
Purchased At:cycle logic
Strengths:Great set of components for the price. Bike takes a beating like a champ. Climbs like a goat and cuts through the turns like butter.
Weaknesses:So far the crank and bottom bracket, makes noise regardless of proper torgue. WTB hubs, fromt was defective on first ride, popping and wobbling and rear is slowly dying on me.
Similar Products Used:My first FS rig so I can't really compare to anything.
Bike Setup:LX, WTB tires,wheels,hubs,Hell bent,koski brakes
Bottom Line:Great bike for the buck. Would be dissapointed if I paid original price of 1100 bucks for 550 was very reasonable. I've replaced BB and crank with Race face ISIS and have Sun Ringle wheels w/ deore hubs to replace wtb wheels and hubs. With a few mod's the bike can take a hell of a beating and make a great bike for beginner to intermediate XC rider on their first FS rig.

Date Reviewed: November 26, 2002
Favorite Trail:Rocky Singletrack with climbs and drops
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $850.00
Purchased At:Ozone Bikes
Strengths:Good bike for moving out of beginner to intermediate rider and beyond. Tough enough to withstand my 190 lbs. while jumping, hopping ledges and generally crashing into large rocks at 16-20 mph. OK for downhilling. Good Fork.
Weaknesses:Chain broke within first month of riding. Shifting cables stretched out in less than 2 months. Had to replace the tires with "real" tires...The rear tire was to slim for any decent traction or control. Had to replace the seat tube clamp for one that was quick release. Had to replace the rims with Mavics...The stock ones taco'd on my first ride :-)
Similar Products Used:This was my first FS bike
Bike Setup:All Deore XT components, Duke C 100 mm fork, Velociraptor Tires, Mavic 317 rims.
Bottom Line:Get this bike USED if possible and then trick it up with decent components...You won't be sorry...very good value for the price.

Date Reviewed: September 8, 2002
Favorite Trail:Ridge trail
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $830.00
Purchased At:Adam,s Bike shop
Strengths:great suspension, good components, very comfortable bike on the rough down hills , fast
Weaknesses:broke the chain after 3 days, small back tire(1.95), not the greatest climbing bike
Similar Products Used:Specialized FSR, K2 Attack 3.0
Bike Setup:Deore shifters, and cranks, LX rear, Duke C fork and rock shox delux rear shock
Bottom Line:The bike is great for intermediate riders who want to go out and have fun on a bike that can handle anything that they are brave enough to do on it. You can not find a better bike for the price so go buy one and have some fun!!!!!!!!!
