Favorite Trail:South Park BMX course
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $235.00
Purchased At:Dick's Sporting Good
Strengths:Great riding, easy to manuever, Really worth the money, great all around bike, but it's best for park and dirt riding...
Weaknesses:Heavy, only good for your first couple years as a bmx rider...
Similar Products Used:diamondback joker 2009, Diamondback recoil, and other wonderful diamondback products.
Bike Setup:very easy, after a few years i would recommend to update brake pads, tires, lighter frame and fork, and then of course grips.
Bottom Line:This is a great bike. i would recommend this to riders that are serious about bmxing....

Favorite Trail:Street
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:Dicks Sporting Goods
Strengths:Nice bike overall, durable, stock rims fiarly light*, looks nice (brown '07 model), fairly nimble considering.
Weaknesses:A tad on the heavy side, managed to bend factory handlebars, chainwheel way too heavy, *stock rims none too sturdy.
Similar Products Used:-
Bike Setup:Eastern rims/tyres, 2 of 4 pegs on, Animal V2 Lite c/w, Bully Nudie bars.
Bottom Line:I find it a bike that suits me. It's (as I said) nimble when you need it to be, a tad heavy, (when stock).I have a 33/12 gear ratio (same as 44/16?), so it gets off the line quite well. Upgrading the rims and lubing the brake lines helps the breaking problem. If you're a beginner, its a nice but, if you've got more experience, well, I'm sure you're not reading this right now.

Favorite Trail:Red Planet
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:Canadien Tire
Strengths:Extremely Durable - the frame and fork have survived thus far, with no cracks.
Heavy enough to keep momentum going on long lines.
Weaknesses:Sometimes too heavy in the front end, that's what I'm used to now and anything else just seems weird.
Bent stock back rim second day, and it's replacement within another week.
Both stock brakes were weak, and the crank spindle seems to come loose every so often (VERY strange, might be the assembler's error).
Poser-high gearing. I mean, honestly.
Similar Products Used:Mirraco Blend, Mirraco Black Pearl, Diamondback Venom,
Stolen Pinch.
Bike Setup:Brakeless, Drive bars, Stolen Team crank, Stolen 33t cw, Demolition pedals.
Bottom Line:If your just starting out, it's a great buy for the price. When you go huge, tailwhipping everything etc., don't hesitate to buy another bike, and just give the DB to like the neighbor kid or something.

Favorite Trail:urban
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:World of Wheels
Strengths:Strong Frame, Forks and Rims
Weaknesses:The rear brakes are horrible and the chainstay setup makes adjusting them near impossible without removing the front sprocket or having special tools. The rear brake itself is horrible also. I'd seriously recommend against the the u-brake setup and going with a dual cable brake bolted to each brake arm.
Similar Products Used:Haro F4, Haro F3
Bike Setup:Freestyle
Bottom Line:Don't buy this bike there are so many better setup bikes for around the same price. The stock rear chainstay u-brake brake setup is truly terrible I can not recommend against this enough. You will need to upgrade this after a few months or less of modest use.

Strengths:double weld rims, 3 piece cranks, 10mm front axle, 14mm back axle, strong everything. decent pedals, gyro, welded gyro tabs, comfy seat, can ride hours on end. feels like an indestructable frame and forks. great looking bike, with out any of the stickers.
Weaknesses:one word. Brakes. ive recently had the back brakes redone, with a new lever, and ive changed the pads, (will buy new pads soon) they can lock the back wheel up. front ones dont don anything much. i have snapped both the stock cables, now are using older ones that have lasted longer. stock tyres are ok for freestyle/flatland, i didnt like them much for dirt, ive got 2 maxxis max daddys now. Brakes ALWAYS need adjusting. grips wear out quickly, the diamondback logos arent visible anymore.
Similar Products Used:alot of stuff.
Bike Setup:os hitension steel frame, 44/16T gearing i think, im not too sure, i want to move to a 39T soon. changed the back pads,
Bottom Line:great beginner bike(me) held up heaps good. ive only had to replace the back bearings as they got shattered. although, from that drop, i hit the ground hard, no other damage happened to the rim. im really happy for it, especially considering it was only $AU400. this christmas i will probably sink about $300 more into it, should turn out pretty decent.

Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:Halfords
Strengths:Good frame, Bars, 3 piece crank, strong rims, good for begginers
Weaknesses:Slightly front heavy, brakes are poor, seats uncomfy ( but i replaced mine )
Similar Products Used:DK Eight pack
Bike Setup:pretty much same as when i bought it, but i have a new wider snafu seat, 1 cable back brake, and a full set of snafu hexagon pegs
Bottom Line:The bottom line is it's a great bike for begginers ( ME!)It has its flaws, and i know everyones been saying all this stuff about diamondback lately, but the bike is good, good rims, good frame, good weight, its a good bike to learn on.
Also excellent value compared to the DK Eight pack, same bike with a 3-piece crank for £20 less! It's also durable, it can do park, street, flatland (at a stretch) and dirt
If you're an experienced rider, stay clear, you'll find the bike tedious and unchallenging.
If you're a begginner however, buy this bike, its one of the best value out there!

Date Reviewed: October 27, 2003
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $140.00
Purchased At:REI
Strengths:- Tough as nails
- 14mm axle
- It's got all you need for skatepark riding and flatland stuff
Weaknesses:- Weakass brakes
- The stickers are kinda cheezy, but luckily they just peel off.
- 19.5 top tube is only size, not a big deal really.
Bike Setup:all stock. added some grip tape to top of pegs for flatland tricks
Bottom Line:I am reviewing the 03 Viper.

A great bike for the money. The best $140 I've spent this year!
This bike maybe a budget ride and sold at REI and the likes, but it'll handle anything you can throw its way. Sure the frame is Hi-ten, but it's tough and sturdy and I have no complaints.

I bought this to mess around and do some flatland stuff and some street stuff at the skatepark and haven't been disappointed.

A complete street bike for $140? A cheap way to get a skatepark bike. Where else can you find such a deal. I was looking at Hoffman and Haro rides, and none came closely spec'd and they had nothin' in this price range.

Bike has a nice solid weight to it.

Nothing more to say really. It's solid and complete.

Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:a shop.
Strengths:Very light, nicely finished, and very nicely balanced for back-end tricks. Seems to come with pretty good stock parts too, apart from....
Weaknesses:... the completely inadequate caliper brakes.
Couldn't really say much more just from trying my friend's bike, although I did get the impression that it might be a bit fragile, but I think that was just from the weight.
Similar Products Used:GT Dyno, Vertigo, GT Dyno zone, blah blah blah.
Bike Setup:Straight off the production line. No modifications.
Bottom Line:Nice and light, and really nicely balanced. I'd recommend this for younger riders who may not have the strength to deal with anything heavier. If you're going to buy it, make sure you get some better brakes because caliper brakes just won't cut it for anything other than jumping. I know that this is probably sold as a jump/dirt BMX, but most riders are going to want to try a bit of freestyle too, so better brakes are a must. Other than that, seems like quite a nice bike.

Submitted by Gabe Huffman a Weekend Warrior from Vancouver, WA
Date Reviewed: June 5, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:G.I. Joe's
Strengths:The frame and fork feel very strong. The handlebars are rocksteady as far as I can see. Came with bar ends (made of rubber, but they'll still save you from a real mean wound), deep socket pegs on both sides of each axle, studded platform pedals, eager for a sacrifice of virgin shin. Came with a gyro as well. Cane Creek Aheaset, big plus!
Weaknesses:The first problem I had was with the brakes, came stock with Tektro 906A u-brakes, they're really crusty and weak. The levers are weak and crusty too. Came with a one-piece crank. Hubs feature 10mm axles, most certainly not strong enough to be doing hardcore street grinding with (trust me, I learned this by bending my axles whilst grinding on an elevated curb). Maybe I just lack the finesse necessary to execute grinds and not bend 10mm axles. I'll admit, I'm no pro. Take it for what it's worth. I don't fancy the stem much, maybe I'm just too rough, but that sucka stripped way too easily. That's about it for the baddies.
Bike Setup:hi-tensile 1021 steel Franko design freestyle frame w/oval chainstays, 6mm thick dropouts, welded ORYG tabs, Hawkeye F/S OS steel fork 1 3/8" legs, Cane Creek OS Aheadset w/steel cups, 175mm 1pc crank w/45 RPM steel chainring, steel retainer style bottom bracket, KMC Z410 1/8" chain, Alex Z1000 48h alloy rims w/14g UCP spokes and 10mm axles, Kenda Kontact 1.95 freestyle tires, Tektro 906A alloy u-brakes, Tektro alloy levers, alloy playform pedals, F/S 4pc handlebars, flangeless grips, D-day front loader alloy threadless stem, steel seatpost, padded seat, SST ORYG detangler, 4 OS deep socket axle pegs
Bottom Line:Diamondback warrants the frame and fork for the lifetime of the original owner, that's a pretty decent deal, in my humble opinion. The paint finish and all original parts are warranted for a period of one year. These are very reasonable warranties. Great deal for the money, I think. A very important note; if you noticed above, myriad parts of the bike are 100% steel, causing it to be quite heavy. The Joker weighs close to 35lbs. If you are a smaller rider, or if you detest bmx/tanks this bike is not for you. But I'll have you know, it's VERY sturdy. Great deal for the money, I think. I've enjoyed it quite a bit, so far. Even if just for the strength of the frame, fork, and handlebars, I'd say go for it.
