Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:lbs
Strengths:bright, inexpensive, lightweight
Weaknesses:sucks down batteries, chinsy
Similar Products Used:old bombproof cateye halogen
Bike Setup:don't matter
Bottom Line:Both front and rear are really bright. the front really consumes batteries though. pretty cheaply made too, doubt it would survive a good impact. but they work for commuting.
Paired with rechargables this is a good little set.

Favorite Trail:Broadway Bridge at rush hour
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:performancebike.com
Strengths:Bright, reliable, light weight, easy to remove (but secure when mounted), durable (survived a crash, rain rides)
Weaknesses:Seems battery hungry
Similar Products Used:None
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher gone urban. A '99 Wahoo with fenders, rack, slicks...commuter conversion.
Bottom Line:The perfect commuter light. This is the HL-MC200 headlight with the TL-LD500 taillight. The MC200 delivers a bright, well focused beam...plenty of light to let them to see you coming and enough for you to see what's 6 feet ahead. Light weight, clips on and off easily, and a reliable switch and contacts. Think rechargeables. It seems to go through lotsa alkalines, but that's not surprising given the output. The LD500 is very bright and functions as a reflector...but then active beats passive when you're on the road before sun up. Both are very good products and together make a great basic safety package.
