Date Reviewed: July 26, 2007
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:It came with bike ..
Strengths:Easy to use, looks sturdy and compact. Way cooler looking than my BC800.
Weaknesses:You can not set total distance (odometer), after replaceing battery.
Only global reset - you can't reset average speed only - than again its cheap computer.
WTH is wrong with my Clock .. I can't set to show 12:33, only 0:33.
I liked +/-/° indicators on BC800 for average speed.
Similar Products Used:SigmaSport BC800
Bottom Line:It show everything an average daily rider would like . I would recommend it over Sigma BC800, because it looks cooler .. but BC800 has better clock, +/- indicator for AVGspeed, and you can set odometer once you replace the battery.

Purchased At:cooma cycle shop
Strengths:Does everything it says. Very quick responces, 3 buttons make for easy use. solid mount, has never come off.
Weaknesses:The time gains about an hour every year, but doest matter as I change it for daylight savings time. Can be a bit fragile, in a crash it got knocked pretty bad and the screen went bananas, but cateye replaced it without a question

Bottom Line:Just got it and I love it! Found the manual on the manufacturers website under "contact us" and then "manuals." Easy set up and great price. I'm just a weekend roadie but it does the trick and I think many types of people could get good use out of these.

Date Reviewed: February 21, 2004
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Strengths:Reliable, cheap, good features.
Weaknesses:No manual available online.
Bottom Line:I've had this unit for six years. I replaced the battery after five years. It's been wet, muddy, dropped, etc and it still works like new. It has all the features you would want - a light would be handy. The user's manual does not appear to be available online which is a pain - I've had it so long, I've lost the manual! Highly recommended.

Date Reviewed: March 18, 2003
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $25.00
Strengths:Never replaced battery, rain didn't harm it, AUTO mode is good thing, with it i never forgot to stop counting when resting or start it again, it works alone. :) It gives all informations you could ask (average speed, current speed, maximum speed, total distance, ride distance, clock, stop-watch, mile/km changeover)
Weaknesses:The new model has the cadence, i would like to see that on my old ST-200, sometimes i wished it has light. Clock is pretty inacurate, it goes cca 15 min ahead in a month.
Bike Setup:Trek 4500 model 2001
Bottom Line:Good product, worths the amont of money i payed for it. If I decide to buy another, it would be the same model but with cadence.

Strengths:Durable, Good battery life, definatley get the best bang for the buck.
Weaknesses:Can't change between Km/Mi unless you reset the whole thing.
Similar Products Used:None
Bike Setup:very old Ridgeback. But it still works like new, minus the abuse on the shifting cables...
Bottom Line:Definatley a great computer for those of us that are curious, but aren't all too serious about biking. If you want the top of the line, this isn't it, but for the average Joe, definatley something you should at least look into.

Date Reviewed: June 2, 2001
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $22.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Inexpensive, easy to use, durable.
Bottom Line:Ok, so it doesn't have cadence on it. Besides that, this computer is the sh1t! Easy to use, pretty much all the features you need. No problems with the wired sensor so far. As far as waterproof goes, I rode through torrential rains for 1 1/2 hrs without a problem - and it got doused in mud. I don't see how you could get a better deal, especially since it's one of the cheastest computers out there. My only gripe is that the pause button was mysteriously pressed without my knowledge on a couple of rides.

Date Reviewed: May 2, 2001
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $25.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Three words: Price, Design, Functions.
At least it fits me better than some other products I thought of purchesing.
Weaknesses:Not water proof but, little rain won't stop it.
Similar Products Used:None so far.
Bottom Line:It fits my needs very well. Consider the price its very nice but too bad its not waterproof.
Although in the manual it says, "its ok to wash out sand or dirt that is stuck in the buttons with water"
And now I wonder if its really ok to use it when its raining eventhough i did and it doesn't say that its "waterproof". Still is it ok?
I think its a good and an adequate computer, but its better to buy something that has more warranty that it won't brake or whatever: IS IT WATERPROOF?????? Maybe its even Shock Resistant.
Overall: Its a good think and that's my final answer.

Submitted by YR a Weekend Warrior from Israel
Date Reviewed: April 10, 2001
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:price (in local terms)
all the functions I need
heavy duty wire
easy to setup/change mode
Weaknesses:none so far
Similar Products Used:Sigma BC600
Bottom Line:I like this product but asked myself what is the big difference between this one and the Sigma BC600 with all the same functions that will make for a different scoring
in the flaming turds count. Well beside the stronger wire,
I finally found a major difference. On a recent trip we found ourselves walking up a steep hill VERY slowly. My Cateye kept on conuting while the Sigma BC600 on my wife's bike decided it was to slow for it to count. Over a 12 miles course we had a one mile difference - Cateye rule.

Submitted by Galant Ho a Weekend Warrior from Singapore
Date Reviewed: February 8, 2001
Favorite Trail:SICC
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $15.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:All the basic features are there, odo, trip, clock, max spd, avg spd, etc. Very cool design, much nicer than Mity 3.
Weaknesses:Not waterproof.. That's why the Mity 3 is a few dollars more expensive than this model (Tomo XC). Cable ties supplied are white, does not match the black magnet.
Similar Products Used:Velo C15
Bike Setup:'91 Concord with mixed components, Avid, XT, LX, etc
Bottom Line:Nicer design than Mity 3 - main reason why I chose it over the Mity in the first place. However is not waterproof; but I won't suggest leaving it in the rain while parked outdoors anyway. (swoop and it's snitched away by a thief).

Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Purchased At:local bike shop
Strengths:Durable, easy to use, can be set to any wheel size. Long battery life. waterproof
Weaknesses:Weak magnet and sometimes it stops reading but a quick adjustment of the sensor does the trick.
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:lx
Bottom Line:Works well and is very affordable. I find it extremely accuarte in distance readings after i tested it against a car. Very waterproof it went through washing machine and dryer and it still works. its a great speedo for the average rider who does like to go sick every now and then.

Submitted by SG Wong a Weekend Warrior from fremont, ca, usa
Date Reviewed: September 4, 2000
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $16.00
Purchased At:performance bike shop
Strengths:cheap compared to other bike computers.
has all the necessary features.
Weaknesses:no backlight.

i wish there was a setting that would automatically show the different readings on the computer so i dont have to keep pressing the button to change the computer readouts.
Similar Products Used:sigma 600
Bike Setup:pretty straight forward.
i dont really like the fact that you have to cut the protruding strap that keeps the sensor in place at the fork.
Bottom Line:besides the minor cons this is a good computer. its cheap and does what its supposed to.

Submitted by David a Weekend Warrior from Austin,TX
Date Reviewed: June 24, 1999
Favorite Trail:
Barton, Kelly, Forest Ridge
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Price, no wires, able to set 2 different wheel sizes for transfer to another bike mount
Weaknesses:
no light, difficult set up for Marzocchi Bomber, calibration question
Similar Products Used:
None
Bike Setup:
Diamondback DBR-X2 FS
Bottom Line:It's nice, but I had problems mounting the transmitter (on fork)close enough to the magnet on the spoke. (could use another spacer and longer screw with the Marzocchi Z.3 LT. Also, I set the circumference of the tire according to their suggested setting, but was wondering how accurate that could be, since they don't specify exactly where on the fork/spoke to place the transmitter/magnet. The best way to find out is to mark out exactly 1 mile or km, and keep riding and adjusting. No illuminating light either. I guess if you're riding at night, you'd have a helmet light that you could shine down. And I gues that light would run down the battery too. Other than that, it the transmitter, magnet, and receiver all stayed on while I did some rocky downhills, and had a couple spills. Nothing in the manual about water protection. Is the receiver okay if it rains, or the transmitter all right if I cross a stream? All b*tching aside, my friends who have had comps. with wires say that mine is much nicer. Will report again later.

Strengths:
Easy to use, nice design
Weaknesses:
mounting and adjustment of sensor, design of sensor
Bike Setup:
LX, STX RC
Bottom Line:It's a very easy computer with 12hr. clock, distance, odometer, average speed, maximum speed and elapsed time. TOMO can be seting in manual or auto start mode.
Good handlebar setup, but may be problem with adjustment of sensor.
