Date Reviewed: July 16, 2009
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:REI
Strengths:accurate
Weaknesses:magnet/sensor is very weak and I even purchased the optional better magnet; it wasn't. Cadance more important then speed, is hard to read. Odd battery hard to find a replacement. Cyclometer unit is now loose falling off the mount if one hits a bump afer one year of use.
My older, several years older, Cateye Astrale 8 has none of these problems.
Similar Products Used:Astrale 8, Vetta
Bike Setup:now used only on my road bike. To fragile for a mountain bike.
Bottom Line:poor design and poor quality. Discontinued Astrale is a way better unit.

Date Reviewed: March 2, 2009
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:amazon
Strengths:Value, simplicity.
I like the single click with my clumsy hands.
Weaknesses:If you have disc brakes, the speed sensor won't work mounted on the left chainstay. The distance from sensor to spoke is too great.
I ended up splitting the wires and mounting on the right side of the front, which is much less clean and subjects the wire to flex every time the shock compresses.
It might be possible to mount in the rear with a bigger magnetic field(bigger magnet or stack o' magnets).
Bike Setup:Motobecane HD400, stock until I break something.
Bottom Line:As advertised, cheap and simple.
With discs, you probably will want to go wireless instead.
