Favorite Trail:Kingdom Trails, VT
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2200.00
Strengths:Stiff, precision tracking, THE LEFTY!!!
Weaknesses:None so far.
Similar Products Used:This bike is my first full suspended. I owned an C'dale F600 and Giant and Norco hardtails.
Bike Setup:Stock, exactly like the one pictured above, but with Time Atac pedals.
Bottom Line:(This review is for the 2007 Scalpel 3) This is the best bike I ever had. The rear suspension (Fox RP2) is working great with its 2.6 inches, just enough to keep the rear wheel on the ground. It's climbing just as good as my F600, which was climbing like a goat. And there's the Lefty. What a fork! It's stiff, the lockout work great and is very usefull when spinting or climbing, there's a lot of travel for an XC fork. Nothing I tried can compare to the Lefty, not only for the design, but all other forks I tried (Fox, RS Sid, etc) had a more plush feeling but also had much more lateral flex. Try it and you will be convinced.

Date Reviewed: May 15, 2007
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $2600.00
Strengths:Light, super smooth Lefty, powerfull/smooth Juicy7 brakes
Weaknesses:non so far- simply awesome bike
Bike Setup:stock
Bottom Line:This is my first dedicated xc race bike and I love it!! I used to race my Prophet, but after I got the Scalpel I couldn't believe I actually raced it. The Scalpel is smoother, faster, lighter, it handles way better, and the hydraulic brakes are infinitely better than the mechanicals I used to use. Not the best bike for trail riding because of lack of rear travel and aggressive stance.
