I use this shoe to commute 5-6 days a week and for fun in the woods when I can. No problems with the construction and comfort while on the bike. Off the bike they are just OK to walk in. Quality product, worth the cash.

Strengths:
Comfortable, good ventilation, great price, flexible enough for walking around or hiking during rides.
Weaknesses:
Lace containment strap will sometimes unsnap itself. The shoes are also a bit bulky. It's almost like wearing hiking boots.

Bottom Line:
This is a great shoe for anyone looking for something that is rigid enough for efficient pedaling and flexible enough for walking or hiking. I've used this shoe for adventure racing and it's great to have the flexibility when you have to dismount and hike or climb over rocks to get to a checkpoint. The shoes are also very comfortable. I use them with eggbeaters and haven't experienced any foot pain or soreness. Structurally they've held up well over the past few years. I haven't had any major problems with the quality of the shoe. Right now the sole is starting to separate from the shoe but what do you expect after 3+ years of riding?

I use these shoes every day for commuting and cross country rides, and take them to some aggressive trails on weekends and I'm happy with them. Buy 'em if you want a versatile biking shoe that doesn't make you look like a big 'mo.

Strengths:
Review for 2004 shoe w/ same exact sole/tread pattern, but different upper (simpler lacing). Semi-flexible sole good to walk in, rubber tread grips well on most any rock surface when hike-a-biking, recessed cleat makes minimal noise on flat surfaces, comfort, fit doesn't change from when new, looks more like an all terrain sneaker and doesn't attract attention/look out of place.
Weaknesses:
After a 2 years of hard use by commuting & trail riding 3x/week these have held up well, but are starting to show some wear. The synthetic suede around the toes are wearing through to the fiberous material underneath. Rubber tread on left shoe is starting to delaminate from the sole around the cleat, but right shoe is still solid. May run slightly narrow. Can get warm on hot days but I'm only in them for <2 hrs and varies on socks worn.

Bottom Line:
Great for someone wanting an all around shoe (touring/commuting/trail) for biking & walking/hiking during your ride or once you get to your destination. Shoe is well priced & can be found on closeouts.
Not for someone looking for a lightweight shoe, water resistance unknown.

Strengths:
Good tread for walking/running trail sections, and good in the mud. Lots of support in the foot, and not a solid sole, and not a flimsy sole, somewhere inbetween.
Weaknesses:
The sides have a bit less support than the rest of the shoe
Bottom Line:
Very good shoe, especialy if you have to do some walking. For the price its also amazing the quality of it. I would suggest this shoe to anyone who has some difficulty on the hills and needs the tread to walk up them, and to anyone who is looking for a realy good, and in-expensive shoe. If your a person who stays on your bike through all the hills and does very little walking on the trail, its likely not what your looking for though.

Strengths:
nice, slim fit, hugs heel and midfoot, semi-flexible sole for a little bit of hiking if desired.
Weaknesses:
Bump-eyelits on top part of shoe make it hard to pull laces tight. Little belts on top/side of shoe for securing laces out of way of pedals are a good idea but need a better method of securing them than snaps. I tore mine out while riding and now have to fix them. Maybe velcro would work better.

I like to sometimes get off my bike and hike around a bit after I've climbed a big stretch to get a look around and explore. Most MTB shoes have soles too stiff for walking/hiking. This is a good shoe because of slim, foot-hugging fit and semi-flexible sole, both of which are hard to find in an MTB shoe. Of course its a sporting shoe and not a racing shoe.
