Date Reviewed: August 4, 2006
Favorite Trail:Wathan
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:EBay used
Strengths:Strong, sure and stable climber, confidence-inspiring on the downhills, no more endos!
Weaknesses:Heavy for all-mountain use (32 pounds -- though light for freeriding); no front derailleur stock; expensive
Similar Products Used:Test-rode 2006 Cannondale Prophet 800
Bike Setup:Marzocchi z1 forks; Mavic 823 rims; Kenda Nevegal tubeless tires; Avid Juicy brakes
Bottom Line:This bike has made me a better rider uphill and downhill. I ride sections I won't consider on my old bike. It climbs better than my 24 pound hardtail on steep rocky hills, due to better traction. It inspires confidence on downhill singletrack, and, on the freeride setting, it seemingly will not endo. No more riding behind the seat to prevent face plants! Great all-mountain bike, and I'm looking forwarding to trying the local free-ride park.

Favorite Trail:elephant head
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $4999.00
Purchased At:the bike barn
Strengths:the lefty fork is amazing and has its strenght on a race course, the rims are sturdy and light, the air shock works good on jumps if you set it stiff, the brakes are super strong, the xo drive train has super crisp shifts
Weaknesses:the rear shock could be upgraded to a coil over, the tires could be changed(preferrably minion dh)
Similar Products Used:kona howler, avent arson
Bike Setup:06 prophet 4x replica frame with fox rp3 rear shock, lefty fork, turvativ components, sram xo drivetrain, deemx rims, magura gustav brakes
Bottom Line:the bottom line is buy this bike if your into racing 4x and minor freeride, the bike hauls on the track and can take a high level of abuse

Bike Setup:Stock except Tires upgraded to michelin comp 16 2.2 and Mallet C clipless pedals
Bottom Line:The bike.. Out of the box it's superb, but the tires aren't hooking up enough so switching them to michelins help a lot. Next thing to hastle about is the rear end.. adjusting the shock to get proper sag with enough bottom out resistance isn't easy cos of the dropping rate pivot point. In the other hand, setting the rear end smooth and responsive will let the rear to bottom out in rather small bumbs at high speed but who cares cos' the bottoming is smooth and doesn't alter your handling.

The pinpoint accurate handling is sweet. The lafty is so rigid and light that it makes this ship corner and manouvre so well. In the other hand lefty is so light for this kind of bike that it will meke the bike a bit rear heavy so it's bit unstable on the takeoffs but when you get the hang of it this bike will get you to the podium if u got the skill.

Manouvrable, smooth, fast and light are the words that most describe this bike.

The price is a bit high but pony up on this and it's well worth the investment.

Date Reviewed: June 25, 2005
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $4000.00
Strengths:XC weigt, Downhill resistence, Superb handling and good lateral ridgidity, the suspensions are incredebly smooth as well, adjustable geometry, 12mm rear axel, lifetime warranty....
Weaknesses:The only thing I don´t like about this bike are the brakes, that I have switched to some mono m´4s....The tyres are not that good as well but in 4000 $ bike who cares about 40$ worth of new tyres....
Similar Products Used:There is nothing out there similar to this....
Bike Setup:Standard except for m´4s, xt crancks ,front Derailleur and shifter are Sram X.9
Bottom Line:This is probably the perfect all moutain bike...You can make your way to the top of a mountain very easely because of the good weight, and then make your way dowm so easely as if you were flying down the trail....The Lefty is a bit strange at first but thrust me on this it is superb and is as resistent or even more as a fox or a roch shock....Try one and from then on you will find yourself´s saving money for this awesome bike.......
