$700.00 | | Purchased At: | Bike Tech (Miami) | | Strengths: | Frame and fork Strenght, Durability, Nut clearance, Look, responsiveness. | | Weaknesses: | None | | Similar Products Used: | All types of Cannondales over the years. | | Bike Setup: | XT all around, Cross Max, Lightweight parts. | | Bottom Line: | The bottom line is that no matter what bike you buy, it's still up to the rider to make it work. Comfort, low weight, and smooth gears and brakes are the most important in purchasing a good bike. Good components can take and average frame and turn it into a smooth riding light weight, beast of a bike. I have owned my Delta V 500 since new (purchased in 1995) and will never even consider selling it. It was my first Mountain bike and has serious nostalgic value for me. Of course, I invested about $2000 into it after the initial purchase to make it light and fast, but I have never needed another bike. When I want to street ride, I have a set of rims with slick tires, and when I want to rip up the dirt, I simply swap them for my off road set. I have used it over the years and put it through hell, but it still looks fabulous. I bought it with the indigo blue paint scheme and it became my favorite color. It still shines on like a champ. RIDE ON!!!! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Grip shift 9.0 shifters and R Derail, Avid v brakes and levers, Bontrager hubs and wheels, Purple Ringle Skewers, Cannondale seat and post, Coda cranks, xt front derailer, Xt BB. Ringle bar, and a Purple Ringle bottle cage. | | Bottom Line: | I use this bike as my XC race bike and commuter bike. It is old but keeps on ticking. I get a lot of looks at the start line for such a old bike but considering it was free I don't mind. I am looking for some purple chain ring bolts though. if you have them send them my way.

$350.00 | | Purchased At: | Used from Individual in Tallahassee | | Strengths: | Great frame, REALLY strong. You can ram it into trees and it comes out just fine. If I ever break this frame, then the semi probably killed me too. | | Weaknesses: | A little heavy compared to today's frames. | | Bottom Line: | For $350, this thing rocks! Great for the once-a-week trek though advanced trails. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Houston Date Reviewed: December 16, 1999 | | Duration Product Used: | more than 3 years | | Strengths: | Stiff, light, fast! Excellent fork. Good stand-over clearance. Awsome climbing ability. | | Weaknesses: | Stiff. Flimsy seat stays reqire a brake stiffener for cross pulls. Narrow in the chainstay area, can't fit rear tire wider than a 2.0. | | Bike Setup: | 98 XT, Mavic Crosslands, Specialized Team Control & Master. | | Bottom Line: | An excellent find used, exceptionaly strong frame and fork (assuming Headshock). I still see 5 & 6 year old Delta V's on my local trails. These bikes are very fast on open trails and pavment, but a tad clumsy in really tight technical stuff. It will climb trees in a low enough gear. Handling is pretty good all around, but feels best in the 10-20 mph range. Desending is good for such a stiff hard-tail due to the steering precision of the Headshock. I am going to keep mine forever. | Overall Rating: |
