from Austin, TX Date Reviewed: October 1, 2002 | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Strengths: | Stiff... tall BB height... tight front end... endlessly versitile. | | Weaknesses: | Slack angles... longish chainstay. | | Bike Setup: | Singlespeed: 2001 Marzocchi Atom Race 80, XT Cranks, 32t, 16t freewheel, blah blah vaslkgld. | | Bottom Line: | The frame is like a swiss army knife; it can be a singlespeed, a geared hardtail, crosscountry, trials, slalom, freeride, road, commuter, blah. I've used it as a singlespeed, 8-speed, and 16-speed and never had problems.
Right now, its setup as a singlespeed and after spending most of the summer on my FS, this bike is a blast to ride. It carves corners like a mofo and zips like a cat with it's arse on fire. Really fun.
Only thing's I'd change are the seat tube angle and the chainstay length. If the rear end were tighter, I'd be able to really whip it through 180 turns and switchbacks. Manualling would be easier too, but eh, it's good and stable as is. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
