from Boulder, CO Date Reviewed: April 7, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | White Ranch | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Light, even w/ discs. Accelerates like a headless chicken Solid components and design 18 speed! | | Weaknesses: | Nothing thus far | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized M2 | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | I dont know what Juan down there is riding...But the Caad5! Team Cannondale bike! rides like a dream...For one nothing beats pure USA Sram Components, which works perfectly with the coda rings. HEY PUT ON A SRAM FRONT DERAILIER YOU CHEAP BASTARDS! This is the most aggresive cross country bike I have ever ridden...By far demolishing the specialized line which i have used for so long. Dont get mad. The front shock takes like 10 rides to break in, it will feel rough and top out a lot at first. Also look out for the steering power a headshock gives you....Not so sure about the tires they put on this bike stock...More like semi slicks...so I definetly bit it the first time hammering around a corner...used to the power of the wildgripper....poo! have to go to Calc 2 class...any questions ....get answers from an experienced racer..e mail. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Auckland, New Zealand Date Reviewed: March 10, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | 'wish list' component set: Mavic Crossmax DISC wheel set XTR / SRAM 9.0 / CODA | | Weaknesses: | Seat post (thompson) didn't fit me CODA handle bar grips Seat (bent the rails easily) (thats really all!) Ohhh, and the price :) | | Similar Products Used: | '99 F900 | | Bike Setup: | Stock; except TIME carbon pedals, TOMAC bar ends and profile grips, Salsa seat post (very cool!) | | Bottom Line: | What can you say. The component list says it all... 22lbs with disc brakes... Bought following writting-off my Cannondale F900... Great for racing, although the 2 x 9 drivetrain doesn't suit realy steep courses... If your serious about racing and want something ready to go out-of-the-box, this is the bike. Would have considered a custom build, but the disc-specific CAAD 5 frame and C-dale's headshock sold me... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Georgia Date Reviewed: March 8, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | light as sin!!!!! disc brakes sram
| | Weaknesses: | none!!! Cannondales are flawless if you take care of them
| | Similar Products Used: | 1999 Cannondale F3000 | | Bike Setup: | Cross Max Disc Wheelset Sram Shifters and rear derailur All the good s!@# | | Bottom Line: | This is the fastest and overall best bike I have ever ridden. It rides like a dream and climbs like a goat. This is the bike to get if you are looking for an extremely light aluminum frame, and stock comps. You should not buy this bike if you have small pockets, or parents that will not buy you a bike. I have had a Cannondale before this I it rode awesome. I liked it so much I go another one. Make the right decision and buy a Cannondale.
The guy above is the biggest dumba$$ I have ever seen. Go get back on your !!!!in huffy. You need to know your bike before you place a review on it. The 2000 model F5000 SL is not a CAAD3 frame, it is a CAAD5. The components consist of XTR, CODA, and SRAM; not XT and LX. So go look at your bike again and give the right $#%@in information.
