Favorite Trail:Tsali
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Purchased At:CList
Strengths:this one is the second one I've owned... the first stolen!very strong ,stiff frame can be set up in different configurations for different trails...
Weaknesses:CODA doesn't interchange with any of my non-Cannondale bikes...so I don't take it as a back-up on longer trips.
Similar Products Used:I have been through a lot of MTBs...Mongoose IBOC Comp,four GTs (Zaskar,Avalanche,Aggressor,WTB SE)Proflex Animal,KHS 1000,two Rockhoppers,Montague 'trooper,....more
Bike Setup:Manitou/Answer TI Lx/XT CODA cantilevers, RaceFace cranks,
Jagwire, Mavic,Panaracer, Platforms....
Bottom Line:this is one "different" bike! I have ridden a lot of different (mostly hardtail)mountain bikes and this one stands out...I liked the setup for climbing but have to carry a different stem to get more rise for the descent on my "home trail" .... I know that sounds ridiculous! But, it only takes me three minutes to change it up and makes all the difference in the world (the only drawback is excessively long cables in the interim...not much of a drawback, really)I would change out the forks for more travel if the oversized steerer weren't such a limiting factor...I generally don't care for cantilevers... but it hasn't been an issue on this bike (go figure!)

Date Reviewed: February 27, 2003
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:Hatfield Cycles
Strengths:Excellent finish, strength/stiffness of frame, strong forks compare well to the Pepperoni forks on the S2000 'Dale. Simplicity
Weaknesses:Difficult to get comfy on this bike ito set ups. Had to replace the straight h'bars with lifting bars, replaced head stem with shorter one, and brakes with V-brakes. I bought this bike in 1993, so technology has advanced somewhat!!
Similar Products Used:C'dale s2000, GT Karakoram, various other
Bottom Line:Good bike for X-country and a bit of downhill, strong and longlasting
