Very accurate steering on signle tracks, great platform for upgrades. | | Weaknesses: | Not a lot. Front fork (Fatty) not suitable for free riding or very fast downhils (but is very accurate of fast single tracks). Suspension not as sofisticated as you will find on an FSR. | | Bottom Line: | Great great bike. The kind of bike that makes you fall in love with them. If you are looking for a bike that can climb like a goat, fly through fast singles and rocket downhil - that's your bike.
I recommend replacing the fron fork to a lefty or to a third party vendor such as a Rock Shok Psylo etc. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Having ridden the bike for over 6 months now and raced it once, it still leaves a smile on my face every time. riser bars have been cut down by 10mm both sides and tires changes to full knobbies (old ones at the back of the garage)and thats it.
The low weight (around 11kg), stiff chassis & limited travel but subtle rear end means that this bike can climb almost anything. I never use the lockout except for the road and no hardtail rider can get as far or as fast up the severe climbs. Downhill it is also very manouveable and nimble allowing the rider to hop off and jump most drop - offs rather than just bashing down them.
carbon fibre very strong - had a fairly fast crash that did no harm at all.
DRAWBACKS:- NOISE, NOISE & MORE NOISE. squeaks everywhere! If it isnt the bottom bracket, which was pulled apart once, than it is something unidentifiably else ! any clicks or creaks are amplified 10X by the chassis which also unfortunately scatches quite easily.
Still remarkably inexpensive compared with some of the latest generation XC full sus. machines of comparable weight. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Stock Raven 1000sl so far, except IRC Claw Comp tires | | Bottom Line: | This bike is awesome. It is light and fast. Enough travel for me to get over drop offs and rough X-country terrain. Stock tires are very light but don't have enough traction for step sections. The frame or maybe pivot has started to get a little squeky. I think I need to regrease or something? Frame seems very stiff.
On steep climbs the rear does slightly move but it isn't bad, it actually helps me get up rough routed sections, downhill the rear is very active at keeping me in control. I was worried that only having two chain rings might hurt me on the up hills but fortunately, it hasn't yet. I usually ride fast enough not to use the granny. I highly recommend this bike. I rode a Santa Cruz Heckler on trails for about 4 hours. It is also a great bike. But it can't compete with the price/weight of the Raven. By the way I got mine for $1935 at helen's bike shop in Santa Monica, CA

lock out & full compression damping in rear shock for roadwork/sprints/hills.

shells are easily scratched.
vanilla shock a bit harsh at end of travel - is very subtle than ramps up very quickly due to short stroke.

swapped flat bars for 1.5 azonic. Swapped grips to Oury soft. Swapped saddle to Sella Italia. Swapped IRC Notos tires for Hutchison Python Gold for better grip, stability, speed & comfort | | Bottom Line: | Superb Cross Country full suspension bike which is very comfortable over all terrain for long rides whilst also being light enough to almost beat everybody on the trail ! and being a very confidence inspiring & capable technical terrain bike - good for those difficult downhill sections with stairs & drop offs. | | Overall Rating: |
