Sierra Trading Post

Submitted by koke a Cross Country Rider from Bradenton
Date Reviewed: June 29, 2007
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $229.00
Purchased At:Sierra Trading Post
Strengths:Incredible Cane Creek quality and service. Strong wheelset, high average tension, "smooth as butter" crono 2.5 hub. (See below for the great deal)...
Weaknesses:Noen that I can see..
Similar Products Used:Weinmann, WTB, Ritchey
Bike Setup:2 x Jamis
Bottom Line:This deal is incredible at Sierra Trading Post. Listen to this.... for $229 you get Cane Creeks "Terros" Wheel set but Sierra Trading have somehow got this "Rim Brake" Wheelset done up with Cane Creek's Disc Hubs....so, for this great5 price, you get Front & Rear OCR Rims with Disc Ready Hubs. Go ahead and use your rim brakes and if you ever upgrade to discs, then you already have the wheels in place. In addition, I was advised by Cane Creek that these wheels are super strong...Highest Ratings here and you can rest assured that Cane Creek treats its customers right.

Date Reviewed: May 8, 2007
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:Cycling Spoken Here
Strengths:Lightweight, Good Looking
Weaknesses:Horrible Durability
Bike Setup:Klein Pulse Race hard tail, Marazochi Bomber, XT derailers
Bottom Line:I bought this wheelset after positive recommendations on the internet and from the bike shop. I biked on these wheels 4 times before the rear wheel was so bent it would barely turn. The bike shop had no luck straightening it out. After talking to Cane Creek directly, they basically told me tough luck and that wheels get bent even though my original wheel set I had lasted 7 years with no problems. I was incredibly disappointed in these wheels durability and the lack of pride of their product at Cane Creek. I would not recommend these wheels to anybody who expects wheels to handle normal cross country riding.

Bottom Line:THIS IS CANE CREEKS LOW END WHEELSET(RIM BRAKE ONLY)BUT IF YOUR IN THE MARKET I RECCOMEND YOU LOOK THIS COMPANY UP.FOR YOUR MONEY YOU WILL GET WHEELS WITH A HAND WRITTEN SIGNATURE BY THE PERSON WHO BUILT THEM,SKEWERS.AND THEIR SPECIAL SPOKE WRENCH AND QUALITY YOU WON'T BELIEVE.AFTER A FEW MONTHS AND ALOT OF MILES,EVEN SERC #1 IN REDDICK FLA.THESE WHEELS STILL LOOK AND SPIN LIKE THEY JUST CAME OUT OF THE BOX!I AM EVEN USING THEIR NEW BRAKES THAT ELIMINATE THE NOODLE AND THEY ARE SWEET!BEST MODULATION WITH RIM BRAKES I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED.GIVE CANE CREEK A LOOK. I DON'T SEE HOW YOU COULD BE DISAPPOINTED.
