Date Reviewed: April 2, 2007
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:don't remember
Strengths:Zero maintenance. Solid. Quality at a reasonable price.
Weaknesses:None.
Bike Setup:Marin Eldridge Grade. Columbus Thron Steel Frame. Sram 9.0 shorty shifters. Sram 9.0SL rear derailleur, 9.0 PowerGlide II cassette, Sram PC99 Chain, Sram 9.0 Brake Levers, Cane Creek Thudbuster(great product) for my back, IRD Carbon handlebar.
Bottom Line:Excellent. I had the Cane Creek S-Pro installed over 4 years ago at the Pony Shop in Evanston, Il. In over 4 years, and thousands of miles over Chicago's rough city streets and Pennsylvania hills, it's never needed further adjustment. No problems whatsoever. I call that a rock solid component.

Date Reviewed: November 10, 2004
Favorite Trail:Several in northeast CT
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $59.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Neoprene seals, water proof grease, great value
Weaknesses:None
Similar Products Used:FSA, Ritchey, Tioga
Bike Setup:Specialized Stumpjumper Pro w/ everything replaced over the years.
Bottom Line:Great headset! After first ride I had to re-adjust it. Have not touched it since. I ride year round through heat, cold, rain, mud, and snow. Headset still very smooth. As with any headset, proper installation is critical. I have an FSA Orbit Xtreme headset on my hardtail. I would recommend either headset to any cross county rider. No need to spend more than $50 or $60 for a great headset.

Date Reviewed: April 3, 2003
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $50.00
Purchased At:Cambria
Strengths:Looks Ok, comes in a neat box.
Weaknesses:Garbage, requires constant adjustment.
Bottom Line:I did quit-a-bit of research before buying this headset, and everyone said to go with a Chris King. Well in an effort to save a few bucks, I purchased this POS; this headset has about 20 hours of riding on it, and has required four adjustments already. It to the point where it's slightly binding when the handlebars are cranked to the left, or right--yet somewhat loose straight forward!
This headset has been used mostly in rock gardens, with a 125 mm Psylo SL soaking up the bumps. I've yet to bottom out the fork with this headset installed (no big hits), yet it constantly loosens.
The $10.00 POS it replaced held up much better, only requiring one adjustment in the 6 months. Run, don't walk from this POS--Crane Creek, you owe me $50.00!!!!!
