DESCRIPTION
The BikeRayUSA SPEED II bike light sets a new standard in ultimate light output at an affordable price. Its blisteringly bright 1000 lumen output means a longer beam that can penetrate 300 yards. This light is much brighter than a car headlight and anyone else can see you from a good distance away. The BikeRayUSA SPEED II uses a CREE XM-L LED to achieve its fantastic power output. And the single light head design is waterproof , lightweight and doesn’t take up much room on the handlebars.

Doesn't have cool TRON-like case illumination :D
I picked this up from my LBS about a year ago. It is my helmet spot and performs as advertised. I use it in conjunction with the Ray IV on the handlebar for flood light. The low setting is fine while on the road with traffic so as not to totally blind drivers. I avoid riding in the rain, though I did get caught in a light rain shower one night with no problems. Another evening I met up to ride with a friend who had an inadequate utility headlamp; he thought I was a motorcycle coming down the road with it on low setting. Unfortunately, I now avoid riding with people that have inadequate lights as they ride far too slow, injure themselves, or have to tail me at an unsafe distance to piggyback off my light; forget riding in front due to the shadows. It would be nice if more of my local fellow cyclists weren't so cheap, like I was before I decided to buy my set of lights, so more folks could ride more often and avoid sun related illness; my family and friends have had too many melanomas and pre-cancerous moles cut out from inadequate protection over the years.

Value, illumination power and spread.
Flexible mount
This is a great headlight. It costs so much less than the "high end" brands, but has all of the illumination power you'll ever need. I took it on my first (MB) ride after dark tonight, and I actually used it on the middle brightness level on the trail because the brightest setting is unnecessarily bright for trail riding. The beam is nice and wide for full illumination of the ground close at hand and for seeing around corners. I set it on the brightest level for a fast descent on a paved road, and it was like driving a car with halogen headlights on high beam. Wonderful! A car going the opposite direction actually flashed their headlights to say that mine was too bright.
While the mount is convenient for being able to quickly remove it and mount in on another bike, I would prefer a fixed mount option that does not allow the light to vibrate. It doesn't matter on a trail but the vibrating light creates a flicker effect on paved roads.
Also, while the illuminated on/off switch looks cool at first, it's actually annoying because it's always on when the light is plugged into the battery. It's too bright if you want to stop on the trail in the dark with the headlight off, and regardless of how much it actually drains the battery, I'm still going to have to unplug it when I get off the bike. If the illuminated switch is a battery charge indicator, then maybe it could be set to activate when you press the switch down half way, or only be active when the headlight is on.
All in all, a great light at a great price. My recommendations for the next update would be to ixnay the illuminated switch, and to offer a fixed mount option. I'd buy another one for my road bike!

Competed in my first mtb race using this light and it did not let me down. I compared many lights before purchasing this one and I am beyond happy. I don't think there is a better light out there for the price.

More Focused Beam
Not too many weaknesses with the new and sleek design.
The Speed II is not only lighter weight but has a finer focus and sweet new blue design. I train with lights during the daytime and nighttime for safety. Battery packs can continuously be replaced, your life can not. Take your safety just as seriously as your training and anything else you hold dearly in life. Above all, remember your life is the most precious gift of all, not to be gambled with by the hands of careless and distracted drivers. The Bike Ray Speed II is lightweight and you will not even realize its on the bike. When it is turned on, however, while you may notice much difference, the acknowledgement and respect from drivers will be much greater. I ride and train with bright BikeRay lights, not to annoy drivers, not because I am paranoid, but because I give a damn about my life and my future. I want to train hard and have peace of mind with my safety. When I ride with BikeRay, I ride with Confidence!
